Talkmobile are offering 300minutes/1000 texts/500MB of data a month on a 6 month contract for £8 a month. The deal price comes from the fact that quidco are offering £30 cashback if you take out this tariff, making the monthly cost £3 a month for the term of the contract:

6 months*£8=£48.
Minus £30 cash back= £18 (total for 6 months)
cost per month = £18/6 = £3

This is perfect for people that want a short term contract who have come to the end of their smartphone contract and don't want to keep paying £20+/month but are waiting for the next decent phone to be launched (like me!) and don't want to go onto pay as you go.

I cant find a SIM only contract for less than this that offers a *reasonable* amount of data allowance. If anybody can find a cheaper tariff, please let me know!

If Quidco isn't your thing, TopCashBack is offering £30.30 so the monthly cost works out to £2.95 ;) Not a fan of TCB myself so I'm happy to pay the extra 5p a month (_;)

Looks like a sweet deal to me, have some heat!

Seems like the deal has been around for a while, although it's not always a bad thing to get reminded of the decent ones. Even without the quidco, this is still reasonable for what you are getting, without being tied down for a year or more. Heat added.

Would be good to mention that Talk mobile is out of Micro sims. Has anyone cut one on their own?

What do you mean by this? Is it slow? Not enough data? They are using Vodafone network I think.

Let me know as I'm considering this deal for my wife

I bought an htc one x sim free and wanted the cheapest deal around.

So I tried to get one sim from them but it was refused. Got this email back saying

Thanks for ordering from Talkmobile
Sorry, we can't process this order
You didn't meet all the criteria of a credit check carried out by Talkmobile. Due to this we can't connect you at this time.

I still have a contract with them that is £30 that runs out this month, so they don't accept a £8 one oO

And i have credit cards and a mortgage on the house.

Oh well, ended up getting a t mobile for £8.50 100+250 m, 5000 txt, unlimited internet

Is the data speed good on this?

Data on my TalkMobile is just fine. And yes, it is Vodafone.

Looks like a good deal, I must have missed this in the other thread. Thanks!

Does anyone know if your charged to listen to your voicemail on this? The terms seem to say you don't but the charges list indicates you may.

Can you transfer your current mobile number over to this lot?
#14
Hot for me, I was going to change my tesco mobile sim only contract for the talk mobile 600 mins 6 month plan (as this deal does not have enough minutes for me) but you have to pay call charges to access your voice mail as its not included in your call allowance.

do quidco payback straight away?

I have used Quidco for around 6 years. I've never had a problem with payments, tracking issues get dealt with quite quickly, unlike topcashback. TCB never seems to track for me.

Does anyone pay straight away??

1. What calls are included? Some networks dont allow calls to networks such as LycaMobile or Lebara (eg TMobile)

2. With voicemail, can you disable it?

I just had a quick look at the webpage and it says "Keep your number" on the linked page so I guess so. I will give it a go and see if it possible.

EDIT: There is a box to put in your PAC code on the order page in order to port your number.

Payment times vary with any cashback site but from my experience, its highly likely that you will get your cashback in about 6 to 8 weeks.

This link might be useful to you: All about voicemail

I don't know about the calls I'm afraid.

2-3 months usually - but its never guaranteed. Best to assume you may not get anything, and then decide if its still worth it for you

Ok thanks

What happens after the 6 months, do you have to cancel the contract or is it auto cancelled ?

Pretty good deal

Pretty good deal

I think the 6 months is a minimum contract term so you simply carry on paying £8/month after that on a month by month basis. Of course it works out more than £3/month then but you might be able to find a better deal by then. I think £8/month is still a good deal but you have to weight up whether its still a good deal for you.

Just called orange for my PAC code, guy on retentions incredulous that the pack works out £3pm. Hopefully it all goes smoothly and I don't regret just going to giffgaff.

I went for a deal with e2save through topcashback. It's been pain in the a*** from start to finish!

TCB didn't track. Talkmobile owned by Carphone warehouse. Customer service is poor. Headache after headache. ALL of which is intentional to get the purchaser to give up on claiming.

Save yourself the headache.

How does re-posting a section of a great hotukdeals thread, make this hot? I got this same deal a months ago from the above thread. The thread is updated frequently and can be found by selecting hottest deals of all time & clicking on the top one.

I applied and got exactly the same result, when I checked with experian they said that Talkmobile had never run a credit check. When I spoke with Talkmobile the salesman told me that I was not the first to mention this and that it should go through if he ran it through on the telephone. Needless to say I declined his offer.

I have, i got it correct the 2nd time I tried (I was used free Pay as you go sims) though I was looking at an online picture to get the size and shape right.

if you have a microSIM already, should be quite easy, cut it slightly large then file it down to size

I understand what you are saying but reality is that Quidco is often a deal breaker and as long as you follow the rules then Quidco always seem to pay out. I have made three grand in Quidco over three years and never been pised off once.

I have had really bad customer support from talk mobile in the past so I would never choose them again.

I'm currently with Talk Mobile and can say their internet is the worst. Really absymal. Appalling coverage and extremely slow. It seems to make no difference where you are - I've tried it many different places!
#35
If people are worried about the network, etc. you could always try the 30 day SIMply deal (200m/500t/500d) with £25 cashback.

Just cut mine with a £2.35 machine bought from ebay. They told me the they expect stock at the end of June...works a treat :)

My TalkTalk Broadband Top Cash Back tracked but then declined, and weeks later I'm still waiting, so I'm cautious about anything to do with Carphone Warehouse.

And I reported a problem (not a show stopper) and weeks later not only have they not resolved it, but they have not even responded, and I have to call, since they will not respond to the email.

Everything normally tracks and pays just fine. So buyer beware....

I initially cut the normal sim and was absolutely disgusted with the call quality, poor reception and internet speeds I was getting in general, but especially when at home.

Wanting to believe that it was the sim's fault, I requested a microsim and after nearly two months of waiting decided to complain via numerous avenues. Talkmobile's twitter presence proved useful and I finally managed to get a microsim.
I would recommend that you request the microsim via twitter, if waiting indefinitely is not something that you find enjoyable.

The microsim didn't make an iota of difference.
After further research I discovered that turning 3g off when at home resolves the poor reception issues. So if you are experiencing similar problems, turning mobile data off should immediately improve your reception.
Of course, this is only an option if you have wifi at home/work.

Talkmobile do not support the iPhone 4/4S which explains the inadequate functioning of these devices on said network.
