Would need a US PS3?

No, not at all. There's no region encoding on 300 (and on most, if not all, Warner Brothers Blu Ray disks).

Nope,
Movietyme have a whole section decicated to Region Free Blu-Rays, as do Axelmusic. Both are nearly always cheaper than UK prices and its surprising how many Blu Rays are Region Free!
#9
so region free bluray discs will play on UK PS3's??

what do movietyme charge for shipping??
#10
£15.53 with Free Shipping from AxelMusic

Good place for HD films. Based in Holland, but they ship into the UK and then onwards. So even if it's a large order guaranteed no customs etc :)

Got my Smallville Season 6 blu-ray from there recently, came pretty quickly :)

Sure will

what about the shipping charge?
#13
And is there any chance that in the future, through a firmware update, that the PS3 could become region locked and then imported blurays would not work on it?
#14
PS3 is region coded, however it is dependent on the disks to enforce the coding.

For example, Region A 300 is still a Region A release. However it's not "locked" to Region A.

You also get Region A,B,C multiregion Blu-Rays.

So don't worry about it, it's only if the disk is locked and there's plenty of websites now telling you which blu-rays are locked and which aren't.

Sorry to double post, but Movietyme also have a list of region free blu-rays (which they test on UK PS3s)... 300 is on there:

was in virgin today and noticed they're selling most bluray and HDDVD's for £20+ :x

You can't trade in a US bluray over here though since most stores now are really arsey about BBFC certificates on the cases.

I've never really fancied this film, it looks a bit stupid.
