its ok but not great. The processor is worth about £10(imo) and the motherboard about £20, youll spend more on a gfx card and ram as ddr is expensive stuff now and it would work out cheaper buying say..... brand new motherboard £50 and brand new ddr 2 2gb for £30 as apposed to say £50 for 2gb ddr :P.

But that is my opinion and dont quote me xD.

Voted warm.

At Ebuyer you can buy an MSI AM2 board and a 2GHz AMD dual core CPU for £52.89 delivered. When you consider how expensive DDR memory is for this S754 system compared to DDR2 for the AM2 system you’ll end up paying more for the older slower B Grade stock. Cold.

agreed if you building from new...

but as an upgrade for an existing system, then its not a bad deal at all

Good old Maplin, selling out dated, expensive to get parts for stock, no change to their usual, scummy practices!
These people should have stuck to selling components instead of moving in on electronics and toys, all the stuff they get is cheap imports from hong kong and china or out of date stock from clearance centres, most things from Maplin should be avoided at all costs!!

If I already had DDR I’d rather sell it on eBay and start from scratch with an AM2 system than buy this just because I already have DDR. If you also have an AGP card that you want to keep and don’t use eBay then it makes more sense to stick with an older AMD platform but I’d look for cheap S939 components rather than this as at least that can take dual core CPUs; the S754 platform is very limited.

Maplin suck, i am still waiting for my printer, ordered on 10th March ("in stock" when ordered, confirmation email said "awaiting stock" seconds later!)
sneaky company.

Lol i bought one these to replace my current cpu and mb at full price a few weeks ago and sent it back.
It was pointless for me, as it was costing well more money by the time i bought 4GB ram and a new graphics card, i could have bought a newer CPU and a better AM2 motherboard for less money.
I agree Maplin is ****, i have bought a few things from them and the products are usually cheap and nasty but priced at the same price as better branded/quality ones.
They are probably clearing their returns.
