After playing PS4 remote play on my Z3 I've been looking into getting one of these for the bigger screen. It's a great feature although I wish they'd remove the WiFi only restriction for remote play, my 4G connection manages remote play with ease hot spotting to the vita so it's a shame I can't use the data plan for remote play with my Z3.

Heat added, great price.

Brilliant deal. I paid about the same price for the wifi only model. Wish I'd held off now

In my honest opinion this kills the new ipad mini! Its smaller than an ipad but perfect size and the power is there for whatever you throw at it...including ps4 via remote play! Great for when x factor is on ;)

But how do I remove the 'airtime cost of £28 * 24? By calling o2? or can I do it over o2 chat? Will they do it?

O2 refresh means you can exit a contract if you pay of the device price :) hope that helps

#23
Thanks, Luke. Can you tether with this airtime - if I decide to keep it?
#24
TBH if I were you I would have it unlocked and go with a three data plan...but to answer your question im not sure but last time i checked o2 didn't tether, I could be wrong :)

Thanks... I agree, only issue - Three will not let you use unlimited data SIM in a tablet! They somehow know it after few months and block it! It happened with Samsung Tab S 8.4... So..

Thanks anyway...

Confused. So the o2 refresh thing means you can pay for the device upfront, then I presume you can cancel the £28 pm contract you just signed up to?

Yes. The only contract is your device contract which you have to pay in full

I think sooner or later O2 Will Just advertise the handset price with optional contract. I can imagine how much paperwork if cost them.

Surely if you take out the device + airtime plan of £28 per month, then ask to pay for the device at £13 per month, then you as a customer with a contractual agreement are left with the difference to pay for the airtime? I am an O2 customer and that is how "Refresh" works. Please OP can you actually give evidence that you have basically cancelled the airtime cost post contract setup? It seems to me that you are just posting a method that you think will give you a device very cheaply without actually reading any small print and understanding how "contracts" work!

I've re-read this twice and still can't work it out.

Actually that is not how refresh works at all. Refresh means that you can pay the device price upfront ONLY if you are then purchasing another phone on another tarif for 24 months.

Here is the example directly from O2 website;

"Imagine John buys his new smartphone on O2 Refresh. He signs two contracts. One is for his Device Plan: £20 a month for 24 months, with no upfront payment. The other is his Airtime Plan for calls, texts and data: £22 a month, for unlimited minutes to UK numbers, unlimited text messages to UK numbers and 2GB of data. So every month John pays a total of £42.

After 10 months, John wants to get his hands on a new phone. All he has to do is pay off the balance of the Device Plan (not the future months of the Airtime Plan): 14 months x £20 = £280. And if he recycles his old phone through O2 Recycle, he can get money back to pay it off or put towards his new device.

He then buys a new phone on O2 Refresh, chooses his new Device Plan and and Airtime Plan.

If John keeps the same phone after he's fully paid off the Device Plan, the price he pays each month will reduce to include only the price of his Airtime Plan and any services he uses."

They only waive the remaining airtime if you are taking out another phone on another 24 month refresh tarif. Do you really think a huge telecommunication company like O2 are just gonna drop the airtime contract and let you off on your merry way? LOLOLOL
