£79.99 @ PC World (£4.99 delivery or collect in store)

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/product.php?sku=240892

Apparently it's quite a good model and I've bought many Seagate's over the years.
#2
Quick, change your link to this before the ratings go negative
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/240892

£79.99 at pcworld plus quidco and vouchers etc
#3
willdashwood, you beat me to it :p
#4
:) Good call over quidco/vouchers though. Not sure if my link is OK since it's just a direct link rather than a referral. I'm sure an admin can edit it if it needs it.

Must admit I've very tempted by the deal as I'm forever telling people to backup and I don't do it myself!
#5
Its a very good price there at PC world - well spotted chaps!!
#6
Its available at currys as well where you can use PRICE10 code to get 10% off. :-D
#7
Cheap at Currys. £8 off plus 3.4% quidco = £69 + £4.99 delivery. Has to be a good deal on a branded 320 gig external hd....

So, do you guys rate this better then the MyBook at Amazon, that one is a smaller HDD but i think it looks nicer.
#10
Does it matter what it looks like ? Its a portable hd. Seagate are a well known hd brand no idea whats in the mybook.....

It does matter a little, the segate kinda looks like a billy goat!:giggle:
#14
erm... 'save £80' in thread title is a bit misleading... this seems pretty much like the going rate now...
#15
Any views on reliability and how quiet it is ?
#16
Well it claims to be whisper quiet but all HDD have to make a bit of noise when in use. Seagate drives come with a 5 Year warranty so if it breaks after the 1 year you can remove the HDD and send it off for repair/replace.

Im convinced... have just bought 2 for xmas pressents!
#17
WD (Western Digital) as in the MyBook are pretty good these days. They used to be the noisiest, slowest and most unreliable on the market but now they come up tops in pretty much all of those categories, especially at the large capacity end of the market. However, Seagate is probably second best and always worth considering.

Anyone find any reviews? Which comes with longest warranty? Bundled software isn't important to me but it might be to others so consider that if you're looking for a one touch backup all kind of thing.

Does that apply to this device too? If so that's a big plus point.

Im pretty sure it does... the actual HDD inside should be covered by the 5 year. The external caddy is defo 1 yesr though!

Gobofraggle,

Wasn't my intention to mislead, I simply cut & pasted from the source. I've benefited from this great site for a wee while now and wanted to contribute.

Don't worry, I found PC World's price via Froogle but then those willing to put more effort in have found it cheaper. We got there in the end!
#22
I saw the PC World price on TV, they were advertising it.

Anyway, it seems that Currys would be the best price with the 10% off, it goes down to £71.99 + postage.

Does anyone know of any free postage codes for Currys?, they always seem to have the but the few i tried didnt work.

#26
Well a mixed up thread :) Welcome to all the new HotUKDeals members here.

The My Book is Western Digital, quiet, very reliable and looks great. The Seagate at Currys is a decent offer too, using PRICE10 or EMAIL10 for the discount and I think PRFREEDEL for delivery...

The Currys site is showing as store collection only when i use the link. So, if i'm only making a reservation online and collecting it instore, would Quidco still track the order and transaction being compeleted?
Thanks
#29
Ah... QuidCo should track for in-store collection yeah, but make sure you go to Currys.Co.UK via your QuidCo link when signed in.

It seems that you cant now as they are only available for collection (and vouchers/codes cannot be used) you can still go through quidco to save 1.5% though.

Mod - should this be marked at expired now? Or the cost changed in the title?
#35
Currys - Out Of Stock.:-(

#36
In-stock in SE England
#37
Sorry,should have said where OOS.
OOS Cleveland area and most of North East, except Sunderland and Durham.
#38
Annoying

The store I checked dosen't have any in, probably due to the fact there is a PCWorld directly opposite who DO have stock! :(
#39
This hard drive seems to be the cheapest for its storage capacity. Anyone got this seagate hard drive? What's your verdict? Is it fast enough to play recorded video from it?
