PS: This is only a worthwhile upgrade if you're actually going to use 32Gb (eg Video editing, VMs, dev work, etc...)

1886Mhz frequency ram (C10 XMP) in case anyone was wondering.

Am holding out for a good price on 32gb of 2400Mhz DDR3 myself seeing as that's the best you can get on LGA1150 for the most part.

Voted hot. Have struggled to find good value DDR3 RAM but this would be an over the top upgrade. Not even sure my mobo could run it.

I was just about to recommend you mine, Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400, but it has now literally doubled in price since I bought it. Now is not the time to buy RAM it seems.

May be worth checking your mobo can actually drive a full RAM config at this speed.
A good number are fine at high speed with part/half populated, but are difficult to get stable with full house RAM at max speed ...
Still, you could always run 32GB of 2400Mhz at 1866Mhz if there are problems.

Still not enough ram to run chrome ;)
#9
worth buying and splitting? for those who need 16gb...
#10
Shame these are 8gb x4 :) 16x2 would have been nicer :D

As for the price its roughly the going rate for this speed of ram (8gb at £30)..

@danimal I have the same problem here with my tower cooler, so I'm replacing the 120mm PWM fan with a 80mm blower

@adderrson been keeping an eye on these prices since before xmas and the cheapest 2400Mhz was GSkill's but it's 50% more expensive at £180

I've got Venom Voodoo Extreme... loathed to spend more money on another cooler. hate seeing a good deal pass me by. did you have a specific cooler in mind?

No, don't replace your whole cooler, just the PWM fan, The Venom has 2x 12cm fan, replace one of them with a 8cm fan where your memory modules stick out or a thinner 12cm fan for normal coverage. You may have to dial down on any extreme overclock, but in my situation this was an acceptable compromise. Have a look at this fan for an example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SilverStone-SST-FW81-Fan-0825-PWM/dp/B00UNOYPLS?th=1

I'm sure you could overclock this memory as it is very good. That said, it wouldn't be very noticeable so no it wouldn't really be time effective. Only really viable if you're planning on using 32gb. A 4.6 overclock sounds high though, if you do replace one of your fans I suspect you may need to dial it down a notch...

Seems very stable at 4.6 although only been running it a couple of months like this (cold weather probably helps!)... my asus motherboard did an extreme overclock to 4.8 but that wasnt very stable.

You'd have to have a serious amount of tabs open for Chrome to crash, especially with 8.1/10.

RAM prices are through the roof at the moment!
I paid £45 for 16GB of Kingston HyperX Fury Blue 1866 DDR3 last May!

This is the best deal going at the moment for DDR3, everything else is way more expensive.

Heat added.
