i use 2 oystercards, im willing to get a national rail card (after seeing this offer) i guess i can only load the railcard discount onto ONE oyster card and not both...?
#3
Good spot Richard :)
#4
I loaded my YP Railcard onto my student Oyster today... I suspect that you can only load it onto one card... Not sure why you would need two cards, unless one was expenses?
#5

#6

Well, i'v just checked TFL's website. It seems it only applies to daily capping (1 Day travel card) .
OFF PEAK ONLY.

OFF PEAK zones 1-2 with this offer costs £3.10
OFF PEAK zones 1-2 WITH OUT this offer £4.80
#9
STill a good find! Heat added.

According to the site, I believe that the only time a National Rail Railcard will apply will be for the daily tickets when using "pay as you go" credit loaded on to the Oyster, not for Travelcards loaded on to the Oyster. Unless someone can confirm otherwise? Still, with a 3rd off daily capped PAYG Oyster prices, it makes it a better deal than 7-day travelcards if you only generally travel 5 or 6 days a week...
#11
Excellent find! I'm going to tell all my friends about this!
#12
Just checked website, it looks like the deal only applies when travelling offpeak. If you travel peak time you will pay the same as everyone else.

Peak time tho are only 4:30 to 9:30am mon to fri, so most of the time you can travel with this reduced fare. This is a very hot deal! Helps me out loads!

I can travel road central london all day for £3.10!!!!

Does anyone know if I can 'load my YP Railcard' onto an EXISTING Oyster as opposed to having to get a new one? The reason I ask is that I have a Barclaycard Oyster so it would be too much effort otherwise!
#14
Unfortunately it does not look like you can use a Network Railcard....which is a bit of a bummer, as I'm not under 25 or an OAP yet, and I'm not disabled, and have not been in the armed forces.

Maybe I should sue Ken Livingstone for discrimination!!!!
#15
Just remember to carry said railcard as well as your oyster card, as they'll no doubt want to see it if the do a random check.

There should be no reason to prevent you from loading your old Railcard (providing it's still valid) onto your old Oyster, providing that the latter is valid too- in the case of the Barclaycard, again it should not make a difference.

I can't see any reason for carrying your Railcard, as the Railcard is validated against the Oyster by TfL staff when you link the too- an expiry date is also allocated. You therefore should not need to carry the Railcard...

this is a great spot! thanks so much!!

a bit off topic but I've 'added to richard's reputation'. can someone please tell me if this is the same as voting hot or am i being dumb? thanks!

It's not voting hot. Voting hot is scrolling to the top of the page showing the original deal, then clicking the red 'up' arrow near the deal title. Alternatively, voting cold is the blue 'down' arrow.

#21
does this mean that you can save 34% off the price of a season ticket?

But your Oyster card doesn't have your photo on, so if you didn't need to show your railcard what's to stop you putting your railcard on someone elses Oyster for them? :whistling:

My first post :-D I've been reading the offers off here for *ages* but finally signed up! This offer is HOT!
#23
YAY ! come in handy for my london trips.....1/3 off :)

Zones 1-9 peak £14.50 OP £5.00 :-D
#24
will this work for slough station?
#25
This is going to be incredibly handy! Travelling in London is so bloody expensive, anything to lower it is a godsend.
#26
If you're a full-time student you can get a 30% discount (50% if you're 16-17) on season tickets by getting the appropriate photocard: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/faresandtickets/2957.aspx
#27
Has anyone actually done this ? Can I just pop into any tube station and they will add my YPR to my oyster card if so this is GREAT!! As I am on pay as you go so this will be really handy. Thanks
#28
i've been waiting for a deal like this but the thing is i've already got a student oyster card as well as YP railcard so how am i meant to make use of this offer because i doubt they would let me do this on my student oyster.....would it mean i would have to get a normal oyster card just to make use of this? ahhhhhhh confusing lolz

is any one in the same shoes as me? i guess i would have to go to a tube station to find out....i bloody hope they know about this offer tho
#29
I placed the discount on my Student Oyster, hence I have the option of getting 34% off 7day+ travelcards, or use it as Oyster top up...

You're right. I had not considered that fact... I have a photocard Oyster anyway, so it did not spring to mind! I am not aware though that the T&C demands that though... Do es it say on the site anywhere? If not, then you've spotted an important point!

student oyster card is 33% cheaper than normal adult fares.
addin the railcard discount of 34% would make your travel to a hugeee 67% of? (33%+34%)

is that right or wrong
#32
Hey all,
Not really sure how this offer works.
Can I get a youngs persons card and the get 34% off an Annual travel card, say zone 1 & 2?
If so this deal is fantastic!
