This look very good, shame there is no Aldi near me. I wonder if this is based on another model but just branded Medion?

There's another model build by Gateway which is so much better - with an AMD 64, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard disk drive. It is only sold in the US and doesn't come with HDMI

What we need to wait for is a comparison test with an sammy nc20.
#7
Faster CPU, better graphic, bigger screen, 802.11n wireless adapter, it's excellent for that price
#8
Glossy screen, mangled keyboard layout (fn outside control, up arrow cutting off shift, \ key moved between alt and space) and only 2 hours 30 minutes battery life according to that review. It doesn't look very promising.

Where's the evidence that the processer is faster than the Atom. The processor is apparently equivalent to a Sempron 2200+ which, according to the Passmark ratings, makes it almost an exact equivalent of the Atom in terms of processing power.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html at least according to this comparison chart the AMD provessor is better than the atom processor

Thats not an actual comparison - its not based on any benchmarks and is a guess based on the CPU speed. It lists the CPU in the same vicinity as the Atom and as Passmark shows it is about the same as the Atom.

Some links:

Manufacturers site (with annoying background music)

Engadget

The next three articles are some automated translations of articles that were written in German. You can get most of the meaning:

review

first impressions

Upgrading the memory (it has one slot, so you can replace the original 1GB with a DDR2 2048MB PC667 SO-DIMM. You don't need to remove any stickers, so this should not affect the warranty).
Good points seem to be the screen resolution, HDMI socket, the performance relative to an Intel Atom netbook, and the 3 year warranty. Bad points are the 1GB memory, the glare from the shiny screen and the battery life.
