I'm not generally impressed with Screwfix these days, all those branches are taking their toll on the prices. I have a 2006 catalogue, comparing with their lastest prices, the majority of 'bread n' butter' components have shot up in price, some by nearly 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock on Tool Station!

I'm a big screwfix fan and always get my bits from them. Recently they have been doing some blindin deals, picked up a tile cutter for 15 notes! No one could match their screw prices but unfortunately even B&Q are now quite competitive last time i checked. Shame really.

B & Q and Screwfix are the same firm.

Not 100% correct. They are very separate entities both companies are owned by the Kingfsher group, they trade their own.

I remember when screwfix just did cheap mild steel screws from Hong Kong from a garage.
Things have changed, but I agree that the competitive edge is long gone - excepting the occasional deals like this one.
I also have converted to Toolstation (who have just sold out 30 % to Travis Perkins).
My worry is now that Toolstation have become established and the owners made multimillionaires (the son of the original Screwfix owner) they too will lose the edge........

Still to the point - this is a very good deal!

All companies go to the dogs when they get too big.

Well before you do so again, just take a look at Toolstation and see if you will save anything.
Recently they have been doing some blindin deals, picked up a tile cutter for 15 notes!
Simply the loss-leader trick of a big inefficient company. You don't want a deal to draw you in - you want low prices.

Good thing about Screwfux is that they are large enough to tell you to keep any unwanted item (For ANY reason) below a certain value (Under a tenner - ish) that makes it uneconomical for them to collect and credit you the cost.
Call it a built in discount for the one or two 'not so honest' among you.:)

Do beware of them sending items that have been returned to them, UNCHECKED!! This happened recently with a Power Saw. Scratched, bits missing and obviously NOT new.:x

EDIT:
Just calculated that taking 25 days break per year (Holidays Etc) if you were to screw once EVERY night then this pack would last 10 YEARS.

Need to keep yer batteries well charged though.

Well I prefer Screwfix as there is one about a mile away from me. I do look at toolstation but the time you add P&P its not worth it and you have to wait. You dont need to do that with the trade counters.

Obviously not the Basildon Branch then?

I always "put a call out" when there's a Toolstation order on the cards, and it's always over £45 so never pay postage.
