Keep your same phone number.

Also comes with 12 Months Free WiFi (500MB). £2.99 equivalent per month, thats £35.88 worth of WiFi which makes the Huawei Vision cost just £4.07. Lol

At Phones4U instore you can purchase the Huawei Vision U8850 for just £39.95 on Orange and T-Mobile instead of the regular £59.95 selling price (O2 Network costs £44.95 and Vodafone network is £49.95).

You keep your own number, you keep your own sim card, you just pay £39.95 as an PAYG upgrade on Orange or T-Mobile, £44.95 on O2 and £49.95 on Vodaphone. Take your sim card with you to your local Phones4U store to get the upgrade (your sim card is required to get the upgrade price).

Upgrade only requires that you have been with your chosen network for 6 months or more and that your phone number and sim card is in regular use. Also as long as you have not upgraded within the last 6 months (Top up in past 6 months may also be required).

Regular selling price including £10 Top-up with anyone of the networks is £59.95.

Just pay a minimum of £39.95 as an PAYG upgrade with no Top-up required, plus you keep your own number and you keep your sim card.

When upgrading from o2 (and probably vodafone) the upgrade cost is £44.95

T-Mobile: £39.95.
O2: £44.95.

Other Network sim cards will work in the Huawei Vision including contract sim cards, but you need one of the above Network sim cards to purchase the phone at the PAYG upgrade price (listed above).

Don't mean to sound like a complete noob but what is involved with a PAYG upgrade? what do you need to give them?

Edit: just reread the op, and that explains a lot, so do they test your sim card? i have a PAYG sim card that i use regularly for receiving calls but haven't topped up in months and months, will that be ok?

just take your sim as long as u been with network 6 months you will be able to upgrade.
#19
that's a very good price, would this phone come unlocked, as you need to prove that you have been with the network for a period?
#20
Can i use this with my '3' payg sim?

how do you get the free wifi?

Any idea whether they'd accept GiffGaff? I mean technically it is on the 02 network.

Looks great for the price. Gave you heat and mentioned it on the GiffGaff forum. I bought an Alcatel OT-983 for the same price just before Xmas for my sister's boyf and was able to play around with it for a while.

The only thing that let down the Alcatel was the piddling internal memory (150MB to the Huawei's 1GB). £39.99 is a bargain. My mum has a Huawei G300 and loves her phone.

Yes! I have lol, went in my local store and was greeted with the £39.95 PAYG deal. All I had to do was provide my phone number and my sim card (they put your sim card in the Huawei Vision) and you're ready to go. No extra payments, no signing, no catch at all.

The Ovivo sim and GiffGaff sims would work in the Huawei Vision, no problem, but you could not use the Ovivio or GiffGaff sim cards to pay the £39.95 PAYG deal price.

You will have to have either a Orange, T-Mobile, O2 or Vodafone working sim card that is in regular use to get the deal price. If a friend or family member has anyone of those networks, you can just borrow their working sim card to go and buy the phone and then put your own Ovivio, GiffGaff sim in the new phone.

I should point out, for those doing a comparison between the Alcatel OT-983 and the Huawei Vision, that the Vision also has a flash on the camera, the Alcatel doesn't (though I don't think the OT-983 is as cheap as it was!).
#29
can only see 512mb ram not 1 gb
#30
Yeah, it's 1GB internal memory (ie, storage), not including any MicroSD you may use, of course.

512MB RAM. I assume that's what you meant?

I have the Huawei Vision here in my hand, it is so much better than the Alcatel OT983.

The OT983 only has a 3.5 inch screen with 320 x 480 pixels.
The Vision has a 3.7" screen with 480 x 800 pixels.

The OT983 only has 150 MB internal memory, 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM.
The Vision has 1GB internal memory, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB ROM.

The OT983 only has a 3.15MP rear camera.
The Vision has a 5MP rear camera.

The OT983 only has one camera (no front camera). No flash.
The Vision has Dual Camera (front and back). Also has built in flash.

The Huawei Vision also comes standard with the 3D carousel app launcher :)

Thinking of getting this to use as a cheap sat-nav. I've also been looking for a budget android to be able to use mobile card payments (my regular phone is rooted so won't work). Huawei definitely seem like a decent manufacturer.

This looks pretty good if you can get it for 39.99 , 512mb ram 1gz proc and 3.7 inch screen is not far off G300. I did a cheeky upgrade in phones4u by quoting a friends number on Orange payg and got upgrade price! Didn't have to show the sim :-) You may be lucky and do the same :-)
#34
Will Skype work on this. Thinking about getting one for my elderly mother so we can video call each other.
#35
How do they work out regular use?
#36
so you take your sim in and they Will check the sim and give you the phone for the discounted price?
#37
I'm on virgin so won't work for me but my brothers on o2 so Will get him to go down.

I guess ill have to unlock it though to use my virgin sim?

The phone comes unlocked, so should work with Virgin network. Phones4U only have the advertised networks as standard, just because Virgin is not listed, it doesn't mean it will not work with a Virgin sim card (it just means you cant buy the phone with a Virgin sim) or use the PAYG upgrade using Virgin.

But a Virgin sim card should work in the phone as with any other unlocked phone. :)
