Cdiscount allows you to pay in 3 separate installments. Sorry for not adding P&P btw

I bought the Sony VGN-NR32Z/T' laptop yesterday with my maestro card using the 3x payment scheme

I paid the first part of £133 yesterday and today its in the van and on its way to me. Seems like a really good deal as its not credit or hp its just a kool option they've introduced.
#7
You also get the VAT credited to your account in January, so with that and quidco takes it down to £330 ish.
#8
yeah forgot about that
#9
yeah pretty good deal, think they are a new company.
#10
This is a great deal if the company honour their orders:thumbsup:

Yeah I realise that but I want to make sure they are selling UK appliance stock and not French with plug adaptors and possibly dodgy warranties... like another French firm starting with Pix....:whistling:

Realistically this is the perfect way to pay, three installments each one high enough to get credit card cover and you receive goods after the first payment. Sounds a no brainer.

Take a look at the Acer 5920G with Blu Ray and 4gb memory for £480.
#17
wow what a serious risk this place is taking, whats to say they wont get seriously ripped off pay one payment and not the other 2

Go to the homepage. It's not 15% back in cash - it's in vouchers to spend on their site
#20

Ah yeah, sorry...I was looking in and around the page that the deal was on. Cheers.

It definitely looks like a really good deal and I'm very tempted...

All that's putting me off is lack of reviews, to be honest. I always like reading a number of reviews first before ordering something like this, although Sony do have a very good reputation all-round, especially with their laptops.

All I've managed to find is a "preview" of sorts from Computer Shopper - no actual reviews.

Anyone else had more luck?

If someone mentioned to me a chocolate brown laptop, I would have thought, "Ugh! No way..."

But it actually looks really, really nice. I like it.

Can someone tell me has this got dedicated graphics, not sure what I am on about but it has to be able to play Football Manager 2009

I am losing the will to live trying to find a cheap laptop with the correct spec - please someone telll me if this one will work
#24
Nvidia 8400M should be good enough for FM2009. Shame about the low resolution on a 15" screen.

Haha I was trying to get the same game working on my almost-five-year-old laptop a couple of days ago! No luck.

It's definitely got a separate graphics card. Not sure how good it is though. Have a look at the requirements for the game and check the spec sheet for the laptop.
#26
It's got its own dedicated graphics, yeah. 128MB NVIDIA GeForce. That should be enough for FM2009.

This laptop was added to Amazon UK only today as well...

I am always tempted with the cheap laptop deals that come on hotukdeals. However I always think I may as well put the money towards something a bit more expensive and bear with my current laptop for a while longer. It's certainly a good deal though but I think it doesn't take much more money to get a much better spec.

This is a hot deal... but I don't like the sound of the colour... " wenge brown" from the Sony site.

Well, that's just completely put me off buying one. I think I'll stick to my original choice, the Samsung NC 10.

Cheers for posting that.
#31

Well spotted. Forgot all about that.
#32
They come with warranty, so there's no real issue with buying one. Sure, if it ends up faulting, there will be some down time but it's no biggie.

Nice deal and nice payment option.
#33
What if it completely fails after the warranty has expired, though?
#34

More discussion of this problem and Sony aren't prepared to offer free repairs outside of warranty.

Couple of questions from me (as usual)

a) Have a volume control dial on the front or side of the laptop? I like to me able to turn the volume up/down without clicking away for the volume control on screen.

b) Does it come with a recovery disc used to reformat the laptop? I generally reformat my computers quite a bit to keep them clean and tip top. etc.

a) Dont think any control dial is present. But plz check.
b) Sony doesnt provide any recovery disks. One would be prompted to create recovery disks during initial setup.

Hope this helps.

ordered one. its arrived. very nice really dark dark brown (almost black) and seems v good. no recoevery disks but as suggested make own on start up. etc etc

looks excellent - the main point is the dodgy GPU and res not being up to scratch... anyone know what spec is needed to play spore on a laptop?

On this page you quoted where it says: "Battery Life (min) 150", is that a figure for when it is more or less idle?

If it did have a decent battery life I might buy it tonight.
