Thinking ahead is a beautiful thing.
The new Palm Pre phone is always thinking ahead to make your life easier. Pre pulls your different online calendars into one view, bringing you the information you want without having to search for it. Pre links your contacts from different sources, giving you one place to find what you need. And Pre delivers incoming messages1 and notifications in an intuitively subtle way, letting you react or respond however you want. People, events, information that matters. With Palm Pre, itll come to you.

Connected calendars and contacts
Pre uses the Palm Synergy feature to bring your Outlook Google, and Facebook calendars together for one logical view of your day. And if you have the same contacts in different places, Pre can link them together, making it easy to find the information you need.

Multiple activities
Keep multiple applications open and move easily between thememail, maps, photos, websites, whatever.3 Pre thinks of your applications as "activity cards," and lets you flip through them, move them around, or throw them off screen.

Notifications bar
Things like text messages and calendar appointments appear as notifications at the bottom of the screen. Youll know whats going on without being completely interrupted or losing your train of thought.

Browser and Integrated Applications
An incredibly fast browser brings you websites the way they were meant to be seen. What's more, apps designed for the Palm webOS platform work hand in hand with other apps on the phone. Buy movie tickets, for example, and you can add the times right to your calendar.

Universal search
Simply start typing to begin searching your contacts, applications, Google, or even Wikipedia. Universal search narrows down the possible results as you type, so its easier to find what you need.

Combined messaging
Thanks to Synergy, all your conversations with the same person are grouped together in one chat-style view. (Even if it started in IM, for example, and you want to reply with text.) You can also see whos online right from contacts, and start a new conversation with just one touch.

Email, Wi-Fi, and GPS
Check email from Outlook or personal accounts like Gmail, AOL, and Yahoo!. Take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots. And look up directions or nearby points of interest using GPS. Its everything you need, everywhere you go.

Breakthrough design
Slide out the keyboard for faster and easier texting. Close it up and rotate Pre for music, websites, photos, and videos in full widescreen glory. You get the best of both worlds in one beautifully designed phone.

features
High-speed connectivity (EVDO Rev. A or UMTS HSDPA)

Think I'll take this over the iphone anyday! :-D

oh oh, I shouldn't have started the iphone debate...:whistling:

As usual, vote cold if you found a better deal on the Palm Pre elsewhere. Don't vote cold because you don't like it.

Looks very win to me, i've had an eye on this since its american leak
#6
is this a deal, or a product that someone likes? ie, is there discounting etc.

It's £399, some places are taking preorders at £499. So I guess it might be hot for an unlocked phone, when you compare it to similar smart phones.

I'd get a iphone 3Gs.. More apps, and more fun...

AND the pre has an app catloge too. Pre > iphone

looks like a good deal

Voted cold by me as we are talking about a product that 99% of the UK have probably not had their hands on yet so may well be a big disapointment and therefore no matter how cheap it is would still be a poor deal.

anyway ... if you want different to an iphone try Android ... the HTC Hero and Magic are cracking phones and Samsung have just released the I7500 Galaxy ... although unfortunately through O2 so costs a fortune!

I meant if I wanted to pay that much, I'd rather pay another extra 50 quid for a 3Gs. :whistling:

Smart ar$e! lol

I just mean forums are full of people saying "this or that phone" IS absolutely brilliant and is the next big thing yet it is no way near the shops and their opinion is based upon hearsay and dodgy reviews on youtube and most likely are mentioning it just to be the one who says "you heard it from me first!".

The Palm-pre may well be a great phone but who knows for sure therefore quantifying £399 as a great deal can only be based upon it's £100 cheaper than the RRP but actually it could turn out to be a white elephant and not worth half the £399.

Time will tell ...
