I was looking for a 3G phone yesterday and found the "Orange Berlin" for only £29.99. Yes it is a little basic and some may say it doesn't look great, although I think it looks OK, but for a 3G phone I can't find any cheaper. The full specs are below. It seems like a good price to me, although I'm sure opinions may vary.

Note: If you buy online you also have to top up by a minimum of £20 to get it at this price. If you buy in store you only have to top up by a minimum of £10 when you buy it.

Is it £29.99 inc. Quidco.?
#2
shame it is not hsdpa but then that would probably be asking a bit too much for a phone of this price.

No. It's £29.99 before quidco. So with quidco it's £24.99.

All phones bought directly from Orange are locked to their network.

It's Orange branded and only sold by Orange so I assume that it's locked to Orange. I'm happy to be corrected though.

For about 10 seconds there I read the title as 3G iPhone PAYG for just £29.99... was getting really excited :-(

Not a bad deal though

I think quidco will give you £20 cashbash on a SIM only deal.

Trade in an old phone at an Orange shop and get another £10 off

If you already have an Orange SIM they don't need to add £10 credit

So ..... I think that means they virtually pay you to buy one of these :) Actually I think it works out free !!!!

I nearly bought this phone but decided on the Samsung E250 at the same price. No 3G but a nicer phone for other reasons (both are bluetooth).

Do we need to buy at least £20 airtime to get this phone??

All Orange PAYG handsets are locked only to Orange network. You can use Orange Pre Pay sim cards & those who are on Post Pay sim card contracts. Just make sure you have the correct GPRS/MMS & text message centre number dependant on sim card used with the Orange PAYG handsets. It's the same the other way round.

I would say its a good spec for a phone at that price - but its not on the Blyk list - when from its features you would expect it to be.

There are posts from CS in the forum saying it wont work as its not on the list - but....

Re: Orange Berlin

WOOOOOOOO!!

It works!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should probably add it to the compatability list.

Also, Everythings fine, but do I still need to send off for settings?

So pay your money and take you chances.

Review:

so im sat here yet again waiting for a call back from orange to replace a handset that has broken down for the 2nd time..and will i get a call?? i doubt that very much as i have spent the last 2 weeks waiting on never coming calls from them.
I bought the berlin on line from the orange shop 2 weeks ago,it took me a entire day to set it up and the sim they sent in the box wasnt recognised meaning i had to go and buy a new 1..i added music pictures made videos of family days out then for no apparent reason it stopped working..i rang them several times and was finally offered a samsung i200 to replace it which would arrive the next day..i thought fair enough, handsets get faults..the next day a Orange Berlin arrived on my doorstep..again i grit my teeth and thought well it cant go wrong twice...so off we went for a wicked day out at a music festival..i took video,pics..came home to get changed for the evenings events and bam,...message error on my phone..usim not recognised..so i called orange again..and again..i was put on hold.told id get a ring back within half a hour, and for over a hour nothing from orange..6 calls at 25p each..sunday..i rang again..i spoke to a guy who sed the customer services couldnt offer a alternative phone and they would have just sed that to get me off the phone..so i sed i want my money back..he texted me the number for returns who iv just rang..they sed they want my sim card back..i told them that the sim they sent wasnt working,id had to buy a new 1..so she says..she wont help me...so i asked to speak to a supervisor..i got put thro to customer services at 50p a minute..bearing in mind im ringing from a land line as i dont have a mobile any more...after being put on hold for 10minutes..i finally speak to a supervisor..i sed to him..i hope this isnt costing me 50p a minute for this call..he sed give me ure number and il ring u back right away...that was half a hour ago!!!!!..not only do i not reccomend the orage berlin...i would highly reccomend u dont go with ORANGE..disgusting treatment of a long serving customer...im moving to vodafone!!!

I guess he just never dealt with Orange CS before!!!
