3p off the 3p they put on to pay for all the cars they've wrecked...

Great spot... Looks like someone is concentrating extra hard on damage control.
#3
Thanks tylerboy & welcome to HUKD :)

Is there not a min spend @ Tesco store to receive 3p off petrol ?
#4
Welcome to HotUKDeals tylerboy and Thanks for your first post :)

I noticed Tesco have stated their petrol is safe to use now too.
#5
nice one, voted hot.
#6
I spent £8.90 and didnt get a voucher so there must be a min spend?

Well, they're not exactly going to put out a statement of,

'COME FILL UP HERE, WE MIGHT STILL WRECK YOUR CAR THOUGH!'
#8
Free bucket of secondhand petrol with every purchase.. handy for lighting bbq, or quickly clearing the garden.

how many of you complaining actually had their car damaged by this? i expect none. their petrol is clean now, get over it, and enjoy the deal if you want just dont go moaning about it.

Mine. My car is currently in the garage with a wrecked fuel pump, leaving me with about a £2000 repair bill and the £200 I've spent on a hire car so far.

I think that gives me a right to be angry towards them!

Where do I swipe the card?

Went to Tesco today, handed over my card at the checkout as usual but no voucher for 3p off a litre of petrol.
#13
...and for extra convenience we will book you into a mechanics while you pay for your petrol (at no extra cost).

I don't think the contaminated fuel that was sold in a few outlets in the South East would wreck a fuel pump.

What car do you have that is fitted with a £2k fuel pump anyway? A roller?

But it was not their fault and they tried to rectify things as soon as possible AND they'll pay for your repairs phone 0800 028 6428

More like...

"Our petrol might wreck your car but at least you spent 3p per litre less doing it  "

:-D

usually at tesco it is a minimum £50 spend. The voucher is then used when
paying at the kiosk!

Yeah, my understanding is that the dodgy fuel was knocking out O2 sensors in the exhaust system. Maybe Anarchist will luck out and get a free repair from a random failure :)

well put duneindex lighten up - were only having a laugh!!!

you don't work at Tesco by any chance do you? morales:)

exactly I expect some car owners will be trying it on with Tesco for repairs that had nothing to do with silicon traces in the petrol...there was a woman ont radio today saying she was claiming hundreds of pounds in taxi fares since her car had been off the road and that she was GOING to get the receipts to prove it....my guess is that she will make an arrangement with some sole taxi owner to provide receipts and then split any profit should her claim succeed...call me a sceptic but there are always those looking to make a buck out of this sort of thing.

Yep, off diesel as well Steve.
Went shopping this morning and got a voucher (till spit) for less than £10 of shopping so wouldn't have thought there was a minimum spend. :)

There's no barcode on the coupon either which is a little strange ?

This promotion was to be expected, but to be fair to tesco's they've handled it well really, the contamination was caused by a supplier, no fault of there own, and there offering to pay for repairs to any damage caused to cars. This promotion is trying to repair a damaged reputation which will take some doing.

Overall though 10/10 for Tesco's.
#31
Too right... and their 99 RON is great for us Jap car owners!
#32
My local is closed :(

Maybe they are still flushing all the silicon down the toilet :P

You only get 95% petrol with tesco. 5% is some substance they add to keep the environment clean and cut costs, it's not good for engines.

I always fill up at Esso and BP.
#36
95 ron was the affected stuff, other halfs ka had some issues, £18 lamba off ebay all sorted!

my audi uses the 99 stuff and that wernt affected, 3p offs all good too @17mpg! dam twin turbos, fun tho ;)

It's not exactly a reliable source, but for what it's worth: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/archive/index.php/t-12163.html

I got the voucher on £3.38 spend, BTW. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it, though..! (Although I have no idea if their diesel is any good).

Although the following suggests that Tesco actually supply the best fuel in Britain: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=57&t=302977
