First off I know that not everyone likes the 3 network and also this phone receives mixed reviews from what I could find, but anyway...

The ZTE 102 is all about affordability. You can make free Skype-to-Skype calls and chat for free with Windows Live Messenger. And it's easy to flick between applications with the switcher key.

It comes with a 2 megapixel camera and has an impressive battery life - so you can use all the 3G features for longer.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

NO £10 topup required unlike argos

£8 cashback from quidco or topcashback which reduces this to £11.99

Don't use accessory voucher codes as they usually invalidate the cashback

UPDATE: It appears the ZTE F102 Black is no longer available, however the ZTE F102 Silver still is though!

Also £19.99 Argos @ if you can find one here.

Added price & retailers name to the title :)

For £11.99, if Quidco works (and it normally does these days, unless you're careless enough to leave cookies all over your pc), this is a bargain.
#3
Not a bad deal at all !!!
#4
can anyone please tell me how does this work:
If I take mainly (eg only) for the skype and do not top up regularly, would skype still work?
thank you...

Yes, it will. From 3 website:

Pay As You Go customers can make free Skype-to-Skype calls and instant messages (IM), without ever needing to top up.

No, you can only use the Skype user-to-Skype user calls. Not sure if you can get the free international calls as well with this one but you can defo not use Skype In/Out to call landlines and mobiles.

The software thats on the phones have been modifed to Three's requirement for using it purely for data calls. In a nutshell, you can only use it to call other Skype users who are also logged in with their Skype.

You only have to receive a Three mobile phone signal (no wifi nor internet connection required) as it uses the data stream in the Three network to route your free Skype data calls.

:)

ahh ok, no good for me, i thought you could skype to landlines for free, maybe thats just a pc thing, or maybe its just a figment of my imagination, still seems cheap tho the camera is pretty useful in itself for 11.99
#11
cheers that helps, seems like a good deal shame i only know 1 person who uses skype on a regular basis and i dont talk to him that much!
#12
Good luck to those who use Quidco on this, 3 on Quidco are notorious for knocking back cashback even on manual claims.

It's only free for calling other skype connected (computer/mobile) around the world, however if you have skype credit/plan on your account you can call other countries abroad with it. There is NO need to EVER topup if you ONLY plan on using the skype feature.

I'm pretty new to Skype, not sure if I'm reading this right...
- If I got a few of these phones and some 3 sims for the people I call most often it means free calls for life, without topping up?
- If I gave one of these to someone abroad I could call them for free too?

If so then sounds fantastic!

+1 I've never had quidco paid out for 3 in about 5 transactions so don't count on it!
suspended#15
I also have a question.
I have a Skype Country subscription, which i use on my computer. Which gives me unlimited international calls every month.

Could i use this account/subscription on this phone? And will it cost the same?

Yep,3 and quidco are very unreliable,I'd use the accesories code and at least get something from them, buy a memory card or similar with it

ooh maybe the voucher only works on contracts now,I got one before on payg but maybe they've changed it

No sorry skype is ONLY free in the UK, but you can call anyone on skype for free.

As for calling abroad I was referring to the Skype OUT, which I've never used but I've been told that you can use Skype OUT (you must have credit or a calling plan for this) for calling landlines/mobiles abroad NOT UK landlines/mobile though. It's cheaper this way to call landlines/mobiles abroad using the Skype OUT than 3/three's calling charges for calling abroad.

hot deal, hope that phone can easily be unlocked!

Note that the Skype calls are routed through a 3 APN so if you can unlock the phone (probably can) Skype will cease to work on another network such as Vodafone.

I believe that 3 also offer free unlimited Windows Messenger with no top-up required these days subject to fair use policy. Personally I would cop for a Skypephone S2 new/used off eBay as 3 almost definetly wont payout via QuidCo and the S2 is a much nicer phone - I got one mint in box for £20 as a backup.

Personally think that the 3 PAYG deal is untouchable and 3 have gotten rid of their reputation for poor customer service and dodgy deals with fine print - I've switched a few times and always switched back but am now very happy - coverage much better than Orange as far as 3G goes in my experience.

Here we go - expired for no reason :x

Just ordered mine - worth it for 2mp camera alone.
#21
jonpal88
It could be because you used the voucher code which is why the cashback got rejected.

NOPE,they just don't pay out the cashback
#22
I know it's expired, but to put how good Skype on 3 can be (at the moment) as simply as possible:-

Walkie-Talkies.

N.B. Try to get a 3 mobile beforehand to check your signal level.

Well according to quidco "Cashback will not be paid where a voucher is used" and you said in your post that you used a voucher code, so I assumed that's why it didn't payout. Also I've read other 3 mobile deals on here where people have had their cashback paid from 3?

@Jonpal, with 3 its not about the vouchers, this and many forums report that 3 are likely to decline cashback even if NO voucher is used.

This is simply a heads up, if you value your quidco, just be prepared for dissapointment in case it gets knocked back, even if its a manual claim (and you didn't use a voucher)

The way i see it, 3 cashback via quidco has pretty much the same reputation as their high street shops and aftersales support...
#24
Hot!!! I have a few friends I really like to talk to on Skype. Now I can do it away from the computer, eh? Red hot deal!
#25
Ordered one. Thanks.
#26
Which kind of cashback do I choose in TopCashBack? Accessories? I'm a bit lost since accessories doesn't seem to cover phones. And Pay As You Go order is only £3.50 and I assume for credit.
#27
I've umm'ed and arr'ed all evening over what looks like a hot deal.
Need some sleep,so ordered, going to bed.
Hot from me!
#28
It plays MP3 and has a 2 Meg camera. I think I'm sold!
#29
i have this phone, for the price it is very good indeed recommended

the bad points are that the battery drains alot faster with skype on and the browser sucks (i just installed opera mini)

3 is a great network if you use skype for your phone calls as there standard tarriff for calls is very expensive IMHO but you get 600 free texts and 150mb internet with a 10 pound top up and these last 90 days (not 30 like most networks)

also get a free £10 sim from here

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/632190/free-10-credit-300-texts-150mb-unli
#30
u can just buy the phone put the sim in and make free skype to skype calls no topping up

I'm on 3 and I pay for the landline add on as long as you get it to dial the number exactly as follows it works fine +0044
#32
Anyone else having problems ordering? Keeps saying I've entered an invalid phone number - I used my home phone with code as asked?
#33
my s1 gets really hot after using it

will this phone be the same after a short duration of usage?

please
#34
i have skype international subscription and i bought this phone from argos last time and i can call through skype for free to landlines abroad.

hope this helps for those who need to find about about skype international calls.

you dont have to buy top up with this.

I didn't say I used a voucher,I'd said you would be best to use a voucher and forget relying on their promise of cashbask as they don't pay up most times
#36
I ordered two of these phones when they were 29.99 and should have got £12 Quidco cashback on both. Both were declined by 3 and I'm currently waiting for the manual claim to go through. Well disappointed!

Oh, and one of the phones died within a month!
#37
If, I had one of these and went abroad, could I use it to call a skype user for free in the UK? If not, what if I am in a wi-fi area?
#38
I bought one of these last year, no probs with phone or quidco cashback which tracked and paid as it should,, i just top up once every 3 months and get free calls to my mates on 3 network, i haven't encountered any signal probs in nth london either.

I dont think the phone has wifi
#40
Doh! I bought it on ebay for £23...:x.. Anyway its ok as a free skype/Windows Live phone but the keypad is a nightmare. Keys are very small and noisy. You can also change the price plan to 3pay and get free internet / 300+ texts and unlimited 3to3 calls for 90days + your topup money.
