I dont know whether i just got a bad batch but me and my sister bought some of this from morrisons a while back and it went in the bin it was rancid. Its cheap like this for a reason and is nothing like John West i dont know what John West the OP has been eating. Not voting hot or cold but my advice is pay the bit extra for the proper stuff

Agree, was really mushy and tasted horrible. Prefer the supermarket value stuff to this, and it doesn't even come close to Wests

Did you know Tuna comes from many areas. This affects the price too. The Tuna (John West) which has been subject to heavy price cuts recently comes from Ghana and is rubbish.

The Best Tuna is alleged to come from the Pacific which this does, which is probably why it tastes good.

Usually JW Tuna is good, but the last lot I bought at Morrisons was rubbish and the was from Ghana.

So lesson of the day - find out where it comes from as brand tends to have little or no baring on the taste:thumbsup:

It has been this price on the shelves since before xmas.

Personally I would not touch shredded or flaked tuna - although I have bought this for the cat before now. The price of tuna has fallen slightly over the last few months and you can get a decent can of chunks - various brands - for 45-50p now.

I bought lots of the JW tuna from Morrisons when it was 4 tins for £1.80 and I checked the tin and it wasn't from Ghana, is there another way you tell i.e. some number code on it that means it's from Ghana? I can't remember where it said it from, some place beginning with M I think, will check later

Because Brine tastes horrible.

Spring water is much better.

I would steer clear of any flaked tuna as it all tends to be horrible! i bought these the other day and ended up throwing them away, tasted really fishy and not like normal tuna, even in tuna mayo. I can taste little difference in any brands of tuna as long as they're chunks not flakes. I would be suprised if most people could even taste the difference between john west and basics or value chunks.

I checked my tins, they were from the Seychelles and taste fine; this was when they were 4 tins of JW for £1.80
