Description says it's a PowerA wired controller, so not an official Microsoft controller but 'officially licensed'

No one said otherwise...... on topic, will this work with PC?

Did you not read the first sentence in the OP? ("I think this is the xbox wired controller") Hopefully my reply clarified that with the benefit of some additional information regarding its 'official status'. :) I should have also put I'm thinking of buying this for my PC, would have saved you the hassle of typing a silly question that could have been Googled.

Is this the wired controller?

Title is a little misleading, it should clearly state 3rd party or officially licenced. as it stands it immediately looks like its an official controller.

Don't see much of a deal here tbh. it's just a cheap third party wired controller and a headset in a time when the standard included controller/s have been wireless for years. This whole 'officially licensed' wording you see around a lot of these pads is a load of marketing bull too, probably in the hope some people won't read the listing very carefully and just assume officially licensed = official. Officially licensed means nowt, ALL third party controllers would have to be 'officially licensed' or the third party would be releasing them illegally and Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo as applicable would probably clamp down on them and get them pulled from the shelves....

Also interesting that none of the third party controllers seem to be wireless either, surely not by choice(?) as they would probably sell way more if they were as most people in 2017 would choose wireless over wired. Suspect for all these are ‘officially licensed’ Microsoft etc won’t let them know the wireless protocol to communicate with the console, shows how far being officially licensed goes.

Nope not true at all...any company can make a compatible controller etc without any consent from Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo etc as long as it does not break any patents etc or enable you to copy the game / play back ups etc. They are allowed to say on the packaging Sony ps4 compatible but not use the actual trademarked ps4 logo and so on...that is where you have to be licensed by Sony / Microsoft. * Obviously the Chinese bootleggers take all this with a pinch of salt :D but if you are buying from a major high street retailer then officially licensed should mean a degree of quality unless the 1st party company doesn't give a hoot about quality control and just want to make some £££ :)
