great cashback rates!!! good spot op
#3
Many thanks - applied and approved. My previous Conran card no longer gives cashback - so this is most welcome.
#4
wow - excellent deal

Anyone know what the cashback limit is for the first three months?

I got done over by morgan as the small print says cashback on the first 20k only :(
#5
Good deal, doesn't appear to have a limit on cashback either!
#6
Voted HOT. I take it theres no anual fee, like Morgan Stanley have now introduced.

Not happy with them so think I'll be going over to these.
#7
Re Morgan Stanley??

I use them, and get cashback. I find them very good.. Now.

What is this, re yearly fee???? Have not have any mailings.
And how much is the current MS cashback?? 0.5%?

Can you get a C 1 card with quidco??

Check your account mate, they introduced a £20 anual fee last month on their gold/platinum card, which is the cashback account. I checked my statement after I noticed the charge which stated they were gonna charge me this, not happy tho as I do my banking online so dont really check statements, just file them.

Yes they have been great for me in the last 2.5 years, usually get about £40 cahsback a year but Im not prepared to pay that fee. Gonna be ringing them to cancel card and I want that fee refunded.

EDIT: yes its 0.5% cashback (less now with the fee).

Nice first post vickyo, welcome to HUKD :)

This thread got me searching. Found a good deal with American Express which works out better in the long term.

3% cashback for 1st 3 months, 1.5% there after. Not sure how good they are tho, plus I prefer a Mastercard?

http://www.americanexpress.com/campaigns/affiliates/uk/platinumcredit/platinumcredit.cgi?PID=827&BUID=CCG&PSKU=D7X&CRTV=pl234x60ind&AFFID=1054008&sourcecode=X49000IE23&tduid=b42ec1ad80d98856cb2647d3cc095ab8

Any thoughts ppl?

Not quite 1.5% thereafter, read the small print:

0.5% for aggregate amounts up to £3,500; and 1% for aggregate amounts from £3,501 to £10,000; and 1.5% for aggregate amounts in excess of £10,001.

Unless you're spending vast amounts on the card, for most people it will average out at 1% over the year. Got the card myself for the 3% offer, but of course not everywhere accepts it. The Capital One offer looks very good... just looking for the downsides, but can't see any.

Ah thanks for reading the small print (I didnt), I knew there had to be a catch. Capital 1 is a winner then.

I just want it for the pink pig card, looks well funky!!! :giggle:

do you get to know whether it got approved straight away?

I got a mailing from Barclaycard this morning saying they are paying 5% cashback on all purchases till September.

Might be worth it if you have the card already and are planning a large-ish purchase, think it's £20 a month max.

Don't know if it's newbies or existing customers only, I'm existing but normally don't use it, might have to start now.

they try to but sometimes it is 'referred'...(if so, then up to a 7 day wait)

I dont recall anything from MS telling me about an annual fee! is it for everyone or those who dont use their card to a certain amount in a year??
#18
Thanks for this, i got stuffed on the Morgan Stanley annual fee as well, so i cancelled it straight away. Apparently, some people who applied for the Platinum card at the beginning, but who didn't meet the criteria were given their bog standard credit card which was basically identical but didn't have the "platinum" added. All these customers, have now had an annual fee imposed on them, whereas those that had platinum cards from the beginning don't (altho this may have changed since-i'd check your statements). Very sly move by Morgan Stanley, as until i found this out, i was always under the impression that i had a Platinum card as i'm sure they never mentioned this when i applied!Never mind, thanks to this deal, rep given Vickyo!
#19
Only mailing I have had from them is that my account is being transfered to another company???. I do have a Platinum card, and have had it for many years, use it daily and pay full balance. Never had a charge??
#20
Anyone know why ive gotta be over 21, its the reason i cant have a Cahoot account too and am stuck with Natwest, who are ***** by the way.
#21
Ive been with Natwest for about a decade and have had great service from them. Not always the most competitive for interest rates etc but a great service none the less.
#22
And dont forget if you are 2 minutes late paying your monthly bill you will be hearing from them at least 5 times a day :whistling:

Did you get your annual fee refunded by any chance? Am gonna ring them in the next few days but am waiting for last transactions to appear on my account so I can clear final balance and close account. The fact is I dont accept their new terms and conditions so they should refund it. I was under the impression I had a platinum card too :(

Capital 1 is the future.
#24
I think that Capital One do the identity theft guarantee which applies to other cards as well?

#25
I had a Capital One card and they're not the best to deal with. Expect Indian call centres and stuff.

My Mint card offers cashback, can't remember how much - but they're much better to deal with.
#26
Anyone got approved for this card right after finishing the online application???
I submitted my application and was informed that I will be contacted within 7 days with an answer...
#27
Sounds like a good deal, but I already have a Capital One card (The Circle rebat card they issues years ago - currently 0.5% cashback - was 1% originally) and they state it's for new customers only :-( [Might E-mail them to complain]

Anyway, I'm using a GE Money card that always gives 3% cashback on Supermarkets and Petrol (Where I spend most of my money) and 0.5% on the rest.
#28
Hi alien7,

I got the same message and to the best of my knowledge, I've got a stella credit rating.

Could be the sheer volume of applications?

Which barclaycard do you have, if you don't mind me asking?
Do you know if the 5% cashback apply to all barclaycard customers, or just targeted at specific card, e.g. platinum, studentcard?
#30
I see nothing on my MS account about a 20 quid annual fee

Is that card still available?
#32
I bet your bottom dollar the credit limit you receive from Captial One will be low to avoid to much cashback for the first 3 months.
#33

Couldn't See it on their web site, so I think not any more. (Still giving the deal for existing customers.)

AFAIK that's just the way they operate. Was the same when I applied for mine with them.

They send you a letter a few days later telling you the status.

That's confusing. It says under the general T&C that this is not for exisiting customers.
#36
I just called Morgan Stanley after reading this. They have started charging for the "classic" card so if you qualify for the platinum, you are fine and it is still free.
#37
BigAde
Is that card still available?

No, it was only available for a short period of time.
#38
Thanks for posting this, excellent timing, i've got to pay our holiday balance next month £1,500. Kicks it off with £60 straight away Wha hoooo
