I've just eaten one! 4 for a pound in Sainsbury's, lovely!!!

Oh that's not god news! I've found the steady rise in the cost of impulse buy chocolate has helped my waistline considerably. I can't bring myself to pay in the region of 50p for a Mars bar... but this is less than half price compared to most places. Chocolate tastes good... bargain chocolate even better! Help!

This is a great deal, shame they aren't as big as they used to be :(

in the bag. hom nom nom, cheers

shame, i gave up on mars bars when they changed the recipe at the start of 2000 ish. They used to be quite tough and chewy, now there some too sweet soft crap....
I dont think many people realised... but it was only when they adjusted the packaging brand design to some gay kiddie looking text, rather than the bold mars text they used to have

Well, I'd argue with that.

Yes, they're not quite as big as the original retail ones, but you'll find that Mars used to put reduced size ones in multi packs.

These aren't. They are as Mars put it "4 Standard sized bars". These are 58g.
The old Mars Bars (pre 2009) was 62.5g and has been since it's inception.

However, the multi-pack Mars Bars were always 54g.

So you're actually getting better value for money!

Not a bad deal. Although, Morrisons are doing a 5+2 extra free offer for £1.68. Snickers are included in the offer as well.

I have a theory on this! It's because we are bigger, therefore all chocolate bars look smaller! Take the Cadbury's cream egg for example!!!

They changed the recipe of Mars bars back in 1992 then sharply changed it back again when they discovered nobody liked them anymore - ala Coca Cola. The retail version used to be 58g prior to 1992 then went up to 62.5g following the recipe change and stayed that size after the recipe changed back again. In 2000 (ish) they decided they wanted to shed their macho image and appeal to woman and manbag toting frizzy haired boys. With this came the return to a more ladylike portion of 58g bars, new style lettering on the wrappers and a slightly different shaped bar (more height + less width). I haven't heard anything about the recipe being revised in 2000 though?

They also removed the malt that used to be in them.
Try an American Milky Way (Mars bar to us) and you will see what you are missing.

In on of the Co-Op's in Manchester (near the Arndale Shopping Center and 'big wheel' thing), you can.. picked them up there last night on way to M.E.N. Arena

An Article in the Guardian on the 18th March 2002 appears to hint that the consistency would become more like a Milky Way. Lo and behold, it did.

Also, the drop to 58g in fact only occurred in the second half of last year.
