Munich is awesome, one of the best places I've visted.

If you go, make sure to pay a visit to the city, and go to the Hoffbrauhaus. Its a large beer hall that serves fantastic food! And the prices are reasonable too. Also make sure you partake in a litre glass, even if its just for a photo!.

I'll add heat!

The Hofbrauhaus is for tourists really although it is quite nice and worth a visit. Other good places in Munchen is the Augustinerkeller by the central station which does great beer and food, great prices and is mainly visitied by locals. One of my favourite biergartens is the Hofbrau-Festzelt on Wienerplatz (near the Deutsche museum) which has a better biergarten than the Hofbrauhaus in the center of the city. My very favorite place of all is the Fraunhoffer on Fraunhofferstrasse which does the best Bavarian food I have ever had. These places were found over about 10 trips to Munich and by being shown by friends who live there.

Just bear in mind Munich is a good 1.5 - 2hrs from Ruhpolding and this hotel

Also, plenty of other places to visit from this location - Salzberg, Eagles Nest in Berchtesgarten, boat trip on Königsee and plenty of amazing walks in the Alps.

So who do you think is going to be taking up this offer?
:D

Just got back from Munich with work, beautiful place with some cracking old churches and monuments, one that springs to mind is the "Peace Angel". a gold angel on a large tower.

There's always one.

Might be good, seeing as flights are not part of the deal, if someone told us where we had to go to get there... like what airport, carrier etc :)
#15
I've checked some dates and nothing in that price.
Anyone can confirm this please.

Easyjet from Stansted & Gatwick fairly regularly. From Edinburgh too, but not so frequent

Lufthansa & BA from Heathrow

Not sure so much about other UK locations, but think there are some from East Mids and Machester

I saw this yesterday, on initial viewing it's a cracking deal, but factor in a flight to Munich or Salzburg and train or car hire from there and it soon adds up. I'm tempted but i think the tital cost per person would be nearer £300 all in to get there and the hotel. Still not bad though.

Nearest airports are Salzburg (25 km) and Munich (185 km), although Munich seems to be the far cheaper option at around £120 pp return from Manchester (Jet2) or around £80 with EasyJet. But then you have to find a way of traveling 185 km to your hotel...

Does anyone who knows Munich know if Gunther Murphy's is still going? A great venue to have a drink whilst you watch footy!

Guenter Murphy's is unfortunately closed now - went the same way as the Shamrock :(

Munich is a brill place - been there many many times. Agree on comments re Augustiner Keller (the best bier in Munich) but I like the one in Neuhaser Strass (near Stachus/Karlplatz).

Was tempted, but flights to Salzburg looks expensive (strangely Salzburg has a proper Auginstiner Keller/Biergarten) and Munich is miles away - the transfer may put people off....But heat added non the less as would benefit someone...

Just throwing one in here, but I`ve not seen any mention of driving across.

I was under the impression that there is some excellent scenic routes around that area for a cracking driving experience so why not get the ferry across and drive the rest of the way.
