Bit crap that it takes 2 USB ports up which means ya only gaining 2. If you use a USB hub you would gain atleast 3. Yes you would lose the SD slot but does anyone actually use that?

Not a bad price I spose though but a USB 2 4 port hubs about the same on Ebay.

exquisite? really? lol

I like this solution, doubles the usb ports adds a card slot and is aesthetically pleasing too all for a fiver.
order confirmed and on it's way!
Thanks OP, voted hot from me.
#5
that looks alright. Cant go wrong at that price. Thanks

Will controllers still charge from it though. I thought you needed a powered hub for that?

EDIT: Guess it does....

Charging should work fine. I have a 4 port un-powered hub and charging is fine from it. Saying that though I have never tried to charge 4 controllers from it at once. :)

I tend to use the USB port on my LCD to charge controllers as the missus is usually watching TV in the day whilst I am at work. ;)

Maybe thats why it takes 2 USB slots for the extra power?? I have a controller charger pod that has 2 USB Ports on it but when I connect the PlayTV box to it it cant detect it, wonder if this will work

Due to the shape and size it won't work for the PS3 fat, no. :(
However, a quick Google bought up the 'Logic3 PS3 USB Hub & Card Reader'.

Using a 4 port hub would be retarded, it would split the bandwidth of the USB too much and you would have issue with external drives etc.

yes, it's free

Great stuff, this will save me from constantly unplugging usb items, thus cutting down wear & tear on the usb ports..Thanks for this :-)

Looks good, ordered one and yes free delivery :)

What a great idea! Restores the PS3 slim to the original's 4 ports _and_ gives the useful SD card slot.

BUT - does it work properly and does it really integrate? If so - hot hot hot!
#22
Anyone actually got one of these as some USB Hubs can be a right pain.

errr, this IS a 4-port hub (unpowered, with integrated SD card reader). The gimmick is that it is designed to physically integrate with the PS3 slim, something I'm interested in knowing if it works well.

As for 'splitting the USB bandwidth', no-one is likely to be running 4 devices that need high bandwidth simultaneously. A powered hub wouldn't have any issues with external drives.

takes up two ports and you get 4

what's the point?

also wouldn't touch dealxtreme again, they take your money and if the item is not in stock they won't even let you know and then you have to run around like a headless chicken chasing them!
#27
Is there one for a regular PS3?

The point is that you get two extra USB ports and an SD slot. Useful if you have more than two things you want to plug into the PS3 slim and an SD slot is always useful.

With DX you just have to accept that you put your order in and wait. It's not really a site where I'd spend a large amount on an item but I think it's great for cheap little novelties than you can 'order and forget'. Then it's always a nice surprise when you get a package through the post a month or so later ... Have bought quite a few knick-knacks from them, my only gripe would be that the quality of their goods is suspect.

No one else notice this will partially block the main air inlet for the ps3?

Nope, The usb will sit in flush and the body of the usb hub sit's proud of the air inlet. Also the air inlet spans the entire length of the front underside of the console.

Anyone that has had to regularly unplug one USB device so that they can plug in another?

I have only had one item go missing(last month) in the years, and dozens of orders that I have placed with them.
It's not the easiest getting replacements etc, but the fact that so many people in this country use a company based in China must be for a reason.

While it's true there are other air inlets your wrong to think all of the front is is open, only between "Sony" and the curve of the disk drive is open to air. I appreciate the high rez picture but perhaps a shot with it attached to the system might be more helpful to potential customers.

Thanks

Contacted Paypal today (who i paid via) as my item never arrived (PS3 hub) & they refunded me straight away...I thought over a month was long enough to wait :(
#37
I ordered mine a month ago to the day but it has not been delivered. Anyone received one yet?
#38
Finally received this piece of junk. The SD card reader doesn't work - anyone else having the same problem?

Of course, I'm now too late to claim back through Paypal and DX are near impossible to contact directly :(

Oh well.
#39
Fixed!

Two of the contacts in the reader weren't touching the SD card. Just raised them a little bit using a sewing needle and all is well :)

Also, the back of the unit isn't flush with the PS3 so there's a good gap to let in air!
