After spending far too long searching for a good but affordable 4 season sleeping bag for an upcoming jaunt into Snowdonia I came across this.

With a Comfort rating of -4.8C to -11.5°C.

And extreme rating of -30.7°C.

It's by far the warmest sleeping bag I can find for this sort of money.

It's heavier than the much more expensive versions weighing in at 2.3kg.

But at the bargain price of £22.49 it's cheaper than everything else I can find at this sort of level.

If your happy to spend at least another £80 to £100 you can get something not quite as warm but 1kg lighter.

Available from Gelert themselves.

If they sell out I've also seen the same price is available now at Sports Direct, and Field and trek.

Looks like another Sports Direct owned website......oh yes the terms

The Fight Zone Direct website is operated by SportsDirect.com Retail Ltd. whose registered address is SportsDirect.com Retail Ltd., Unit A, Brook Park East, Shirebrook, NG20 8RY, Company Number: 03406347, VAT Number: GB 898 439743.

Hmm.. that's interesting...Like I said in my description its being sold at Sports Direct and Field and Trek too. I wonder if they've been bought out or its just a contract deal... Either way I've always liked Gelerts products.. well made and not too incredibly pricey. There's a Gerlert shop in one of the towns when heading away from Snowdonia that always has some bargains to be found.

Gelerts are now owned by mike ashley along with karimor..

Gelert= cheap tat would never have been that price.
And yes you guessed it its Mike Ashley's tatty sports gear is us.
So I guess it's ideal for Chavs then haha

Ah missed the news back in the Summer of 2013... Gelert were bought by Mike Ashley...

Hopefully the same quality/price ratio continues with their latest products.

I've always rightly or wrongly steered clear of Karimore products since it disappeared into the Sports Direct fold...

We've had a couple of Gelert tents and their very well made for the money, not quite on par with Vango tents quality but not too far behind.

Either way.. still by far the cheapest proper 4 season I could find... if I'm freezing on a mountain side in a few weeks time I'll post back and complain.

If you buy it through Sports Direct.. and are happy and able to collect in store you can save on the £3.99 postage too.

Gelert used to be reasonable quality stuff...... not anymore now that podgy t*** owns it.......
BS rrp and I'd take the 4 season claim with a pinch of salt as well.

For quality sleeping bags with a true season rating try Alpkit.

Thanks for the heads up... Alpkit stuff looks good... but they don't currently sell any sleeping bags... it says they're due to return at some point in 2015...

Must be new editions of their bags coming in..... Their products are top stuff though, everyone raves about them on camping forums.
Bound to be in before the spring.

I thought about getting a 4 season bag, then changed my mind.

Instead i have a ultralite sleeping bag which is good in the summer (glastonbury!) and squashes down to a tiny pack. It's 0.9 kilos

Then I got a heavier bag at 1.8kg which is good for -3 comfort but still packs small.

Then for deep winter I just put one inside the other! Been good down to -9 in Scotland, packs small (2 small bags easier to pack than one enormous one) and still lets me travel light in the summer by just taking one bag.

Sounds like a good plan...

I have got a cotton sleeping bag liner to go in as well that should help ensure it's toasty...

I'd love to have bought a far more expensive and lighter 4 season option.. some big discounts to be had in the £120 region. Though as I'm not gonna venture out into 4 season camping territory that often I figured this would suffice... if I really get into bivvying perhaps I get something better.

Well colour me stupid... I didn't actually check... as I'd assumed it was the norm (i.e. like Tesco) to make it free to collect in store. I'd seen the option when I was ordering (I got mine delivered). I'd understand Collect+ costing a bit if it was at a shop that's not a Sports Direct but surely they could make it free to go into their own store, especially as you're more likely to spend more when in store.

The bag arrived... its very toasty.. very happy with the quality for the money...

My kit is getting heavy though... hate to think how much this upcoming micro adventure is gonna cost me... also hate to think how much hot uk deals has made me spend on 'bargains'.
