Rome
Travel dates: Sun-Fri until 28 Feb, 2009

We knew this deal from Sheraton Roma was good at first glance, but a bit of research proved it's truly amazing. Stays at this 4-star hotel are as low as £49 per night (inc VAT). Not only is this £100 OFF standard room rates, this special offer includes a FREE upgrade to a Club Room, which is normally £200 per night!

That's not all, you'll also get the following extras:
FREE buffet breakfast
20% OFF food and beverage purchases
FREE shuttle service to/from Fiumicino airport and the city centre**
Access to fitness centre
FREE Internet access at Sheraton link in the lobby

This offer is valid for Friday and Saturday night stays until 28 February. Midweek stays are just £20 more per night. You must book by 26 November.

Blackout dates: 29 December-1 January, 2009.

How to book: Click here to book online, or call Sheraton Roma hotel reservations on 0039 06 5453 7000 and mention TZOO. Note: Prices are listed in euro 59 on weekends and 85 midweek.

About the hotel: Located just outside of central Rome, the Sheraton Rome Hotel & Conference Centre has a swimming pool, a gym, a restaurant and two bars. You can be in Rome in ten minutes thanks to the FREE shuttle bus from the hotel; once you're there, you can explore the Eternal City on foot.

Sheraton Rome Hotel & Conference Centre

You can be in Rome in ten minutes thanks to the FREE shuttle bus from the hotel

So it's a conference centre in the outskirts of town. You should check how often the free buses are, or where the nearest metro is if they finish early and also what food is available around the hotel. Otherwise, you might be forced to have short days in town, and have to eat at the hotel in the evening.

This is a great deal.

It's in EUR which is a sort of business centre, but it's a fairly short ride from the city centre. (Except in rush hour!) The other great thing about this deal (I just booked for a weekend in February) is that according to the small print you can cancel without penalty.

If it comes up, book a room on a "club" floor. You normally get free snacks and stuff in the lounge!

What is this TVLZ plan? Do you need to be a member of anything?

TVLZ is the code from the website Travelzoo.com. That's where the deal originated.

I went in Feb this year, it wasn't cold but it rained very heavily the for the entire trip. I still had a great time though.

Rome is a fantastic city.

Who flys to Rome from Manchester? Cheapest flights I've found so far are £180 return per person, connecting in zurich :(
#8
Just booked flights for two via manchester airport website- direct flights with jet2 for £349.00

This hotel is MILES away from the centre. Not the kind of place you could walk out from and go into town take that in consideration when planning your trip. Enjoy this fantastic city!

Under where the 'Special Rate Code' ("TVLZ") is entered on the booking form it says this:

Note: Special rate plans require ID at check-in

Anyone know what this means? Would hate to turn up and suddenly be faced with the full bill...

Have also been on a 3 day break in Feb, the first 2 days were t-shirt weather but the last day it poured down and we got soaked!

Brilliant place to visit though, 3 days wasn't enough! :)

This is the only thing putting me off. Dont want to be turned away on arrival as don't have ID

TripAdvisor should be negotiated with hefty pinch of salt. Personally, I gave up on it years ago. Perfectly good hotels get panned by grumpy guests with lofty expectations that an £80 a night room should have a plasma tv and a marble ensuite bathroom. Think of a decent, clean and friendly hotel you know and then check it's rating on the site. More often than not, you wonder if they're talking about the same place.

Ok folks i've just booked this but as some of you have said was worried about the:

Note: Special rate plans require ID at check-in !

As others have said I too didn't want to get stung at check in with a large bill.

It is no problem to book this with the link above but if you wanted to be extra safe (like me!) then follow this link to Travel Zoo (it is their top 20 deals):

http://uk.top20.travelzoo.com/

This offer is the 4th in the list, click it and it asks you to sign up to their newsletter before it gives you access to the codes and either online or telephone reservations.

Just booked this Jan 31st for three nights (£172 in a club room) and booked Ryan air (£120) for £292 all in for me and the misses an absolute bargain she will be well happy!

Hope this helps.

Don't worry at all about this. That is just standard website blurb for some of the special rates that can be accessed. You would need ID for industry rates, corporate rates etc.

Having booked some Travelzoo deals through Starwood hotels previously, you definitely won't have any issues with this.

To those making use of this - enjoy your stay!
