IKEA are 10 for £1.50 and their own brand batteries have shown to be one of the best performers per pence on the market, so IKEA is still cheaper for £40 once you factor in VAT (and delivery?).

batterries £4.99
handling charge £2.50
Vat £1.50
£8.99 in total

the handling charge disappears if you order 2 packs - £11.98

You put it on a piece of ferrite string and wear it like a necklace.

Not alkaline.

Absolute cheapest alkaline that i have seen is in Wilko - 95p for a pack of 8.
11.875p/battery.

These posted above work out at 15p/battery

Was it on offer or is it always that price at Wilko?

have tried these ...They are pretty average.

They're quite good, not as good as GP (although they sometimes send GP instead) or Ikea but far exceeding "cheap shop" blister packs. These are often packed in twos inside the box & are those sent with electronic devices, for example remote control cars etc. I certainly have no complaints using them instead of Ikea ones when I run out.

Online link here
These can be reserved for collection in 3-5 days in store if your not in a rush and planning on going to wilko in a few days.

But even if the 4 pack ones are in stock they are still better value (approx 55p/pack i believe)

It would be very helpful for others if you attach a link or asda location if it's in store only or simply just post a deal.

are we talking about the same product?

'Battery life was well below expectations (even given the low price) when used in a hand torch. In this case, it's worth paying extra for a premium brand.'

'Used these batteries in a telephone handset and they leaked within a week and almost ruined the phone. I thought alkaline batteries weren't supposed to leak?'

'Used in flameless candle, evenings only.Lasted a week and started leaking.'

4 reviews. 3 very bad. 1 good.

Oh, your looking at 4 pack batteries.

try looking at the 8 pack. there are 13 reviews - the lowest one is average. the rest are good/very good.
I've personally not had a single one leak either and allways found them to je just as good as any other alkaline battery (certainly when comparing cost anyway)

Does the size of the pack change the quality of the batteries??!! If there is few bad or average reviews on the same product but smaller pack it is also something to think about. Me thinks.
#27
that's really strange luke because I can't find the 8 pack on the wilko site. the link you posted is coming up as a 404 error for me.

Whilst I wouldn't say 4 reviews is a big enough sample size to go on, even if we're saying 17 with 3/4 really bad reviews, as borsuk says it's something to think about. from the screenshot that you posted (thanks) the one entitled 'what happened' is interesting. could it be that they're using a different supplier and not the quality they used to be? this could explain why the 8 pack is no longer available for me but the 4 is - and those recent reviews are bad.
