I am currently trying to contact Scan to return a failed Seagate HDD, my second in six months. They are not replying to my online queries and the only phone number is an 0871 number which is barred from my office.

The first return was not this much of a problem so hopefully it's a temporary glitch, but thought you should know...

Try this number...

01204 474747

its the geographical number and goes to the same switchboard as the 0871 number

Good deal... had been looking at the 1TB Sammy's from ebuyer - but this would beat it just ££ per gb alone!

It would only work with a SATA --> IDE convertor as the original xbox is IDE.
Not worth the hassle tbh, just source a nice big cheap seagate IDE drive!

Anyone know of a good HD upgrade for my Sky+ box???

Insanely tempted by this... Got the free lifetime delivery for scan way back when they ran it as a 1-2 day promotion, but on 2 seperate occasions I've had a very bad experience with Scan. Eventually got both sorted out but after a lot of hassle and headaches.

Still, pretty good price for those who have had no problem with Scan so far :-)

Initially carriage was £6.79. When I entered my address details postage jumped to £16.61 - then they added VAT onto both the price & the postage (even though postage is VAT free!) so total price - to my location - is now £48.88 - not so attractive! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smiley_sad.jpg

I'll vote neutral as the postage should not really impact on how attractive the offer is - but it did make me decide not to purchase.

Price now appears to have risen to £30.09 +VAT! http://www.jesseshunting.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smiley_sad.jpg

Ah that's bloody cheap, brought a 500GB IDE drive a while ago (<1year) for 85 quid!

Someone already mentioned, this would be a perfect cheap drive for the A-110.
#35
remember to click buy before clicking the product details else it'll come up more expensive

Looks a good deal.

Bought 2 drives and a XFX REVO 64 SPU 3 Port SATA Raid Card all for £66.94 inc VAT and free postage.

Just at the right time as my drive in a Dell 5150 stopped booting up last week.

P.S. How do you leave heat ?

Flipping heck a thread on an hitachi deskstar and not one mention of the Deathstar problems from a few years ago (oops there is now:whistling:)
I take it Hitachi drives are reliable now? I built a new system 2 years ago with two hitachi drives and two samsung (all sata and all 250's) yet both the samsungs have died on me, so for me i'd say they are reliable these days, anyone confirm?
#39
