The AA are now offering ~ 42% discount on Roadside Breakdown Cover costing £28 for the whole year. Roadside cover is the minimum level of cover and provides roadside assistance in the UK, 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Go via Quidco for £21 cashback - meaning the cost of cover is just £7 for whole year. !!!

important T&C's:

1. Introductory discount of 42% is available when purchasing Vehicle Membership (Roadside Assistance) and when paying by recurring annual payment only.
2. It is available for the first 12 months of Membership and thereafter the renewal price will be the standard price (at time of renewal) for the chosen level of Membership.
3. For vehicles under 10 years old

Not for £28 option.

I've just purchased cover with IC Breakdown for £29 (bronze) that includes what they call "recovery".
Here
For that, AA would cost you £37.62 (inc Quidco).

I took out AA cover last October and have only just (end of September) recieved money from Quidco and that was only after me chasing them.

edi i see maths is not your strong point...........

"Go via Quidco for £19 cashback - meaning the cost of cover is just £8 for whole year."

£28 - £19 = £9 for the whole year!

Hot for me voted hot

try this one if you want to do it for the driver and not the car, have a at greenflag got it for me and the wife, using their personal one, full top package for £65 when I did it it was £30 cash back, however you can then use it at any car, and this is the trick you need to give them a registration number if like us you have a newish one and a old banger put the newish one in as this was half the price of the putting the older car down and they didnt ask for proof of that you owned the car, so you could put your fathers down or a friend and get a really cheap deal and as you are covered in any car you will always be covered.

if might work for their other packages
#11
Again a good 6 months for quidco if you get it!....dont rely on it.

Phew... somehow had £20 cashback in mind, amended now :)

Does it matter when Quidco comes through ? This is an annual policy and thus, you haven't anything else to pay for 12 months. As long as Quidco comes through in that time, fine.

I don't see a reason for the negative comment son the length of time it takes to get money back.

Please remember this price £28 - £19 Quidco cashback is only covered for your vehicle not personal cover only.

Personal cover is £40.12 - £19 = £21.12 year cover

Think I have this correct but please search and check for yourself..............

AA Basic Breakdown Vehicle Only Cover - £28.00 - £19 Quidco = £9 Total
" " Personal Cover - £40.12 - £19 Quidco = £21.12 Total

RAC Basic Breakdown Vehicle Only Cover - £28.00 - £20 Quico = £8 Total
" " Personal Cover - £34.50 - £20 Quidco = £14.50 Total

I had RAC breakdown cover last year although cancelled it once the year ended in August just gone. Now going back to them as you can see they are the better deal of the two. :-D

Very wise you have included Relay, not much point in cover that only takes you to nearest garage when you are 50 miles from home in the middle of the night, then have to book a hotel while you're car is fixed the next day. Though I suppose it's OK if you don't often travel far. An alternative for those that, like you want Relay but don't need cover when travelling in other peoples cars is IC Breakdown for £29

Total cover seem the cheapest to go with

Just cancelled my renewal with RAC as the price had gone up. I said i would just start a new one but they told me i had to wait 100 days. So best for me is to alternate between RAC and the AA
#21
Cheap deal, I pay around £100 for roadside/relay (myself and husband) although I do check RAC website each time my renewal comes through because they are always cheaper and AA always match their price.

So assuming Quidco pays out in what 3-5 months it should cost the following?
£28 Roadside [-£21 Quidco = £7]
£69.00 (with Autumn Offer) Roadside + Home Start [-£42 Quidco = £27]
£99.00 (with Autumn Offer) Roadside + Home Start + Stay Mobile [-£50 Quidco = £49]

My May sign up (when we got Relay for an extra £10 :) ) has still not paid out but is tracking.

For those who have cancelled and rejoined have they not picked up that you are not a new member as you have used the same address? Interested to know for next year. I signed up by DD but cancelled the DD Mandate after my payment had been taken.

THANKS MATE-living in ireland,my premium went up by about 50% but i rang AA having seen this and they dropped the price straight away! heat added

This is a great deal, but the problem is Quidco, too much reliance on them paying out. They have the worst reputation for not paying out on legit transaction, just read their forums!

For that reason will not go for this deal.

im not a quidco member, i can get the jist of how it works from their site but what I'm not sure about is do I have to click through from quidco portal or do I just give quidco the transaction details??

as for the deal its hot. best looks to be joint personal cover with tow recovery to destination = £45pp (before quidco)

You need to go to the AA's site via the quidco page so it tracks your transaction, if you don't you won't get any money back
#28
Looking at the deal on the AA site....

UK Breakdown cover from only £28 Introductory discount up to 42% off online

Autumn price fall
Roadside & Home Start = £69 (save £29)
Roadside, Home Start & Stay Mobile = £99 (save £37)

But no Roadside and Relay as some of you are taking about above in this thread ????

What am I missing here
#29
Quidco is now increased to £21 :)

Vehicle only cover (that means car is covered whoever drives it) £28.This is only for cars under ten years old.I give the wrong phone number when i register,as you have to agree to your details being passed on-and we all know what that means-phone calls!!
I laso don't give my email or my mobile.
Dont forget to mark the expiry date and cancel it.You can then rejoin next year on a cheap deal,or else they will debit top whack renewal rates.
I am chuffed-its cost me £7 for basic cover!!

But when you break down they will soon getyour mobile number ;-)

I was unimpressed with the AA sales technique. After I had a break down I got a call a week later as part of a "customer service survey about the engineer". Now he had been great so I was happy to spare some time to give good feedback but after rating him 1-5 it went straight on to trying to sell every single product they sell...

I was not impressed.

You tell them you are not interested..and ask them to take your number from their database as it is your business phone..
What do you expect for £7...?
suspended#34
I just had to use my Roadside cover - luckily I made it to work before the problems started so my car was safely parked up in a car park.

Extremely efficient service and the (minor) problem was fixed on the spot - well worth the ~£5 it cost me (I got this deal in April when it was £27 with similar Quidco).
#35
Does anyone know what happens if you go for the cheapest deal (Roadside) and then have to upgrade due to your car breaking down at home, or you need onward travel? Do they sting you for lots of money or do you just pay the difference?
#36
Yes they will "sting you for lots of money". I had only Roadside with RAC and my car was involved in an accident and they told me they can only tow it to any garage within 10-15miles from the scene. I asked them if it is possible to pay the difference to upgrade to full package and the lady on the phone told me its too late however if i pay 150 odd pounds they can tow it to my house.

Well if you know any friend or relative who has the full personal package you can call them for help.:-D
Another thing worth knowing:

From AA website:

"Don't have AA Membership?
If you break down and you're not a Member you can still call us. You can join the AA on the spot, although you'll need to pay a small supplement to your Membership fee. While you won't be able to take advantage of any joining offers and discounts, you will be able to take advantage of any AA Member benefits after you join."

Just curious: How much supplement fee they charge?
