Yes, this is a concern for me as well

I was looking at the 32PF7531D at £554 on their site but other shops have it brand new for just over £600 so not much of a saving for a refurb model.

Address is here

And it says that they are Philips Clearance

They have a Manchester number on their website.
I've sent them an email to ask where they are in Manchester as I live there and would probably buy this from their store.

Will keep you all updated..

In my personal experience, Philips stuff is great and ground-breaking hardware when it works, but is just too unreliable to part serious money for (unless there is a good guarantee thrown in). Our last IT dept had 26/30 Philips screens fail before 6 months. That cannot just be chance...

Philips screens? Comedy applicances, with big springs behind the panel so that they pyoing off when you least expect it. Mainly owned by clowns...

I know what you mean!

had problems with Philips stuff before, just recently put in about 40-50 DVD Recorders for one customer and all of them failed after a few weeks...

Another experience with this company, as the post before said anyway, I wouldn't go for a Phillips LCD anyway, but thats my preference.

I know Stevenage well and don't live far from it....I know box green and its not exactly (how would you say without offending anyone) the most upmarket of areas in Stevenage...

Be careful and cautious with this one...;-)

I don't blame you for being warey of them, I was too and said I would pay by cash when I went to pick it up but he refused cash and said only cc or debit card please. I can't link to ebay but they have a shop on there and have a rating of 1100 with 99.9% positive feedback. The only guy that complained was a guy that bought a dvd appliance that was made specifically for Philips and he didn't have a philips.

When I got there I expected my TV to be in a box that had been opened and the tv half assembled or something, I was wrong. The manuals were still in cellophane, the stand that came with it hadn't been opened even the box for the TV was immaculate and unopened. I opened the box before buying it which they had no problems with as it was them that suggested it.

Everything has a 1 year warranty and if that doesn't satisfy you, you can always buy a warranty from somewhere else.

I have a mate with a Panasonic LCD which he paid over £1000 for and he was quite envious when he saw it earlier today. TBH I think they are like the factory shop of Philips because nearly everything there was Philips. Everything they sell has a working model on show which is why when I went I was glad I took my wife to stop me from buying.

Buy or don't buy the choice is always yours but I would be kicking myself today if I had bought the Samsung plasma I was looking at which only had 1 HDMI connector and I wouldn't have been able to connect my pc to type this.

IF I was working for them btw, why would I post deals from other sites? To get you into my 'circle of trust'? lol

Electrical deals have been around for quite a while. Not personally bought anything from them but always look at their website for a deal!! Up until recently they had very high charges for delivery, which although the refurbished sets were quite cheap, the delivery charge brought them back up to nearer the brand new items price from other companies. ElectroTec as they are known, is (so i was told by their salesman on the telephone today) a sister company to the company who is contracted out to do all of Philips warranty work. If a customers product gets replaced, their old unit is then repaired and sent to ElectroTec who sell it on through their website. The salesman told me that nothing with a major cosmetic flaw would be sold by them as that goes through another division to traders. The units they mostly get were damaged boxes, sets returned as the customer was not happy with them or sets that had had a minor fault repaired. He also said that if I was not 100% satisfied with the TV, then under their T + C, if its less than 7 days, I could return it for a full refund which would take 5 more days from receipt of the TV back to them. I was personally looking at the 32" they had on offer for £399, but it is now sold out. I have also not seen anything bad written about them and to the person who said Philips screens were a comedy item, I suggest they read http://www.eisa-awards.org/history/2006-2007/video.html review on the latest Philips 37PF9731D/10 LCD as it wins the European High End LCD award!!!

I'm gonna wait for 1080p LCDs to come down further in price.
