Was. Was. Was.

How can you compare against something you can't buy anymore?!

You cant just vote cold based on a previous deal or you'll end up voting cold for every LCD/Plasma deal after this.

Yes the Bennetts deal was a great one but this isn't even the same model or even a Plasma.

Great deal this one for anyone after a 42", I have had many LG LCD's over the past few years and never had a problem with any of them yet.

Many? What are you doing, eating them? :-D

I wouldn't touch an LG with a bargepole. build quality and picture quality is usually sub standard. i must admit though for branded TVs they are very competitive though

Haha, we must have an LG TV in every room of our house. Excluding the Bathroom of course.

Many to me counts as 7, (4 in our house and 3 I bought for relatives)

Save £50 quid on this. Buy £100 x 5 gift vouchers - Each £100 they give you £10 extra. So £500 gift vouchers (must be bought as 5x 100) gives you £550 so you get the telly and £50 spare for Xmas presents. Result. Done this with the Wii 2 years ago, no problems at all.
#12
thanks
#13
It gets better having re-read the offer - you get £50 now in vouchers to use against the TV and the £50 more vouchers for use between 1/11/09 - 30/11/09. So now the telly works out £100 off.

£500 for a Wii ?! :w00t:

Or maybe not - "This offer is not available with the purchase of Argos gift cards" - not sure if this means the vouchers or not???

The LG only has 2 HDMI sockets, the Toshiba has 4, this may or may not be important to you.
#20
LG have come on leaps and bounds in the last 18 months. Still, would spend a little extra and get a Panasonic myself, as i'm a brand snob and like to be able to sell on in the future with little money lost.

However, deal is HOT.

This seems to be an imported model peculiar to Argos. Also, from what I've read, the 42LH3000 is a much newer model, better spec and a similar price to the Argos deal. HTH.
#22
Added +9 heat for this deal and to cancel out the cold vote comment earlier.

I've had a LG 37" HD LCD TV for the last year and it's been fine for me. Good price for this sooo hot :)
#24
Nice find :)
#25
I have a 42LG5000, the picture quality is fantastic. The only slight problem is a little bit of ghosting as it is not 100Hz. Picture sharpness, colour reproduction and black levels are excellent for an LCD.

I think LG got a bad rep from everyone buying the 3000 and 2000 older LCD model which was fairly poor.

The 7000 and 9000 series are really excellent TVs, i had to compromise though since I'm not rich enough :(
#26
I agree with the previous poster, I have had an LG TV before, was very disappointed. I would never buy another LG, would rather pay a bit more for a decent brand.

i run what i presume is the 37" of this TV

sound is pretty poor IMO plus the case vibrates on heavy bass, but i run mine through a separate speaker set up so no biggie
HD picture is very good(bluray,HDDVD,HD cable) however it can be 'sluggish' on SD pictures with image smearing especially on long panning shots.
this is via a V+ box upscaling

I have a very similar model of this tv, GL5000 or something and I love it.
Menus could be better but it is ace.
LG make good tvs, definitely a competitor to other brands at the same price point.
