anybody got one of these or know of any reports about this TV....before I take the plunge...apart from the HD ready whats the difference between this one and the one ay £550 at Pixmania...can anyone advise ?

All I would say is if you can afford a little more than this stay clear of this TV. While on the surface it looks a good price there are much better TVs out there for not much more money! If you are willing to spend £700 on a TV then why not make it £800/£850 and get a much better TV.

I remember Wharfedale as being a premium player in the Hi-Fi market, so I had no hesitation buying their 42 inch LCD tv in December from Argos , reduced to £699.99. In fact I purchased 2, one for myself and one for my son. Alas, I had to return both within a week as they developed faults.

I learned two things through this experience,
Cheapest is not always best.
Wharfedale are now poor quality.

I would advise staying clear of the cheap makes when considering electronics.

Cheap unknown brands always cause problems when it comes to repairs due to the availability of parts.

£699.99 is certainly too close to the price of the big players to be worth considering.

I bought this one:

http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=41HD&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=samsung+42"&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0

For £100 more you would be muich better off with this. It is a a really good set.

thanks for that I will check it out

Just for reference - The Wharfedale brand mentioned previously is not the same brand as we are seeing from Argos. Wharfedale HiFis were excellant quality, but Argos's Wharfedale is their own brand label.

Had a wharfedale 28" widescreen years ago and had nothing but bother with it............Buyer beware..!!
