London Gatwick to Orlando, Florida

Travel dates: 8, 15 May; 5, 12 Jun

Monarch Holidays has slashed prices on a holiday to Disney's Pop Century Resort in Orlando, Florida. A week's accommodation and return flights is now just £459 per person -- that's a saving of up to £200 on the usual rate.

The offer price includes return flights, accommodation at the Walt Disney Pop Century Resort on a room-only basis, and FREE car hire**.

This offer is valid for departures from London Gatwick on 8, 15 May and 5, 12 June. It's an extra £20 per person to depart from Manchester on 7, 14 May or 4, 11, 18 June; and it's £200 more per person to stay for 14 nights. Flight upgrades to Premium Economy are available for an extra £120 per person.

Book by 14 April.

How to book: Call Monarch Holidays on 0871 902 5714. For more information and to book online, click here. The price may initially come up at £487 per person -- however a further discount will be displayed at a later stage.

About the hotel: The Pop Century Resort is full of the memorabilia, dance crazes and catch phrases that defined the 20th century. Each building offers a larger-than-life time capsule of pop culture, plus the resort offers a food court, pool bar and comfortably equipped rooms.

Go on, you've got my attention ...

Im guessing thats the free car hire you get with most places which is not actually free. So the insurance for the car would be just over 100 quid. Otherwise not a bad deal. Especially for a disney hotel. I went last august for two weeks on international drive for 550.

Insurance comes as standard if you book with a visa credit card, of a gold mastercard I believe, you might want to check yourself, but its under something like visa perks

Saving $20 a day on insurance... I got a credit card just for it!!

Didnt know anything about free car insurance. Do you know any where with the details. had a look on the visa site and it says you need to get the correct cover. Nothing about the card providing it.

Sorry, I was in America last year, and their visa cards came with the insurance for cars, Canada has the same offer too

But alas nothing for the UK, typical rip-off Britan

Apologies

Manchester is only 3 hours doon the road. 9.30am flight means you travel down during the night, leave about 3am, arrive 6am, get parked and checked in inplenty of time.

Very easy, did it a few years back going to Tenerife from MAN

The so called free car hire will cost around £260 for insurance this is what i was told when i booked a trip the other week to florida with free car fire.
When i asked if i can do my own insurance and why is it claimed to be free when its not , i just got ignored....so i wouldnt even bother to have the free car included in this deal as it does not come part of the package.

You can buy an annual car insurance policy for hire cars for £109. I have used these every time I have gone to Florida, even managed to get two trips covered in one year. The hire company will grumble and take a copy of the policy, they will also take a swipe your credit card to cover the excess (althugh nothin will be charged) and say if you have an accident you won't be able to hire another car, blah, blah.

or same company different site for cover by the day - £4.75 per day. Be aware that both the annual and daily are - pay the damage then claim it back policies.

Not quite the same. That only covers the excess. SLi is the biggy in the US claim culture.

Have you actually ever used this with the free car hire bundled with fly drives or packaged holidays? It's normally a condition you have to purchase their insurance? I can understand it works as additional insurance when booking direct with hire companies but not at any other time.

It even says on the top policy "Not recommended for use in conjunction with fly-drive programmes in the USA and Canada". Wonder why??????

The car thing is such a misicule part of this deal yet receives the most attention.

Much more important - what is the hotel like, are there hidden extras.

I think this is a pretty good deal, not brilliant but worthy of further investigation.

It's a massive part of the deal. I've seen people having the shock of their lives at the airport. Either cough up for the insurance or pay the airport rental prices, either way it's much cheaper to book before u arrive!

If I were booking this I'd have scoured all of the rental sites to see how much a car for a week really costs. Last time we hired one with the GOLD insurance, allowing multiple drivers. It was 2 years ago, and can't remember the cost, but of course have everything sorted BEFORE you go!

Back to the deal ... whats the Hotel like anyone?

What about Monarch, last time I went to the USA was a Thomas Cook A330 from LWG with 31 inches of legroom, bet this is a 757 (1 aisle) with about 28". That'll be a nightmare.

Yup, agreed! It can cost more than the holiday itself sometimes, so important that people understand the alternative options. I recommend http://www.thedibb.co.uk for the real insider info on all things Florida. I used this extensively on my last trip in 2008...and im a veteran Orlando visitor! (in experience, not age!) Some good car hire details, and deals there too!
