i am looking for the 42" model but just can't get a good price best i have had is from a company in bolton that would do it with the blue ray player at £1175,shall i take it at that price or just hang on a bit longer?

I saw a Sharp 46" on display in a Tesco Extra before Xmas and it really stood out from the other screens in terms of picture quality, and also it looked really neat for such a large screen. I has a really slim frame.
#6
They had this offer on between Xmas & New Year - I dithered too long & they withdrew it! :?

This time got my order in (& Quidco too!)! :)

Thanks!

Any Working Empire Direct vouchers ?
#8
The contrast ratio, refresh rate [hz] and delay times are very good - tele looks awesome too. Nice price, voted hot

went yesterday to Bradford depot (empiredirect) after ordering over the phone a pioneer 42 inch plasma

there's a offerstowork code on here but they said over the phone that it had expired

They said because i mentioned the offerstowork website they gave me 2.5% off
but obviously missed out on quidco 2% - but needed to know it was in stock, and there supposed to be not too good on delivery dates
#10
Just confirmed stock availability by calling Empiredirect out of stock has been since Saturday 2 Weeks before any stock is arrives typical Empiredirect web site is not updated realtime

I am pretty sure Currys digital also offer the 42" with the blu ray player for about £1000, there was a sign in the currys in the trafford centre for 46" £1199 and i think 42" £999 both with the free blu ray player.

If it is just the Tv there is already a post on the forum for the 42" direct from Sharp for £750

Have you tried the Sharp website as I bought my 42' from them direct in early December when they reduced the cost by £500 & sold it for £799. I saw it listed on this website actually. To anyone out there, the 42' is a fabulous TV and I can't fault it in any way. In hindsight, if the 46' is as good as the 42', maybe i'd have gone for that but prices have plummeted on the bigger tv's since I bought mine but I still am really pleased with mine at £799.

I spent hours researching before taking the plunge and all my work payed off as I am well pleased with it and hopefully a simple recommendation from someone that watches tv, movies and plays games is of more help then pages and pages of specs and people arguing about contrast levels which is very unhelpful to the target audience.

Heat added, blu-ray dvd as well, this retails for £399 on it own!!

I got the LC42XD1EA - it's a truly great tv and I got a pretty good stand from Empire direct as well for £200 when everywhere else was selling it for £250. Highly recommend it.

I've read on the AV Forums about this Sharp LCD suffering from 'banding' issues and also note the Blu-Ray player is only Profile 1.0 compliant so won't handle any new BD-Java content that will appear on future Blu-Ray discs. If you're not worried about those issues then is a good bargain.

What are 'banding' issues?

question i asked on AVF still waiting for an answer!!

i think its something to do with lines appearing where they shouldnt be?!? :o
#20
Banding is kinda like lighter and darker areas of the screen, usually in vertical "Bands", so you will have a stip down the screen where it will be slightly darker. Do note that its mainly quite techhy people who would notice it and normal every-day viewers probably wouldnt.

But anyway, I purchased this deal the other week from ED and the screen I recieved didnt have this banding issue. So hopefully all screens that ED have will be banding free.

Colour gradients are "banded" together - Look for "banding issues" on Dell LCD's and it should throw up some examples.

When the LCD display is manufactured the is a fault in the gluing as I understand. This can cause dark horizontal and vertical streaks on the screen which show up on fast panning. It seems a bit of a lottery whether you get a screen with these issues or not. It was enough to make me cancel my order for the LC42x20e with free blu-ray.

Thanks to all who have answered my question, I haven't noticed this problem in mine if it helps anyone.

I'm probably going to go for the 37" Sharp from ED and then get a PS3 for the Blu-Ray as the firmware is upgradable

Hi all just thought i'd chuck one in I have purchased a SHARP LC46X20E 46 INCH LCD TV PLUS FREE THREE YEAR WARRANTY from 1st audio visual for £989 seem a really good price to me. delivery tomorrow!
#29
just got a copy of what hifi mag and was disappointed to see that they only gave the sharp 3/5 stars compared to the sony and samsung 46" models which got 5/5! will post model number later.

one thing i noticed is that the pricing seems to be all over the place! so the review is based on the price ur paying which was way over what even sharp are charging direct!!

Is this a good deal i feel i get really muddled when it comes to tv's ive been looking for quite a while. The choice between lcd or plasma. 1080p or not. when i'll be spending quite a lot of money i want to make the right choice and not regret it in a couple of months
