460g Hot Jalapeno Peppers (Sliced) £1.00 in Asda

Thought these were a bit of a bargain. Usually pay about £1.50 - £2.00 for a much smaller 215g jar of these. These are made by "Bevelini" and are just as hot - and you get loads ! Let see how hot they really are !?

may be a bargain but next year use the seeds and they grow really easily in our spring / summer climate and freeze well for the winter. total outlay = 0p and they dont taste of pickling vinegar

planted 3 seeds in march and now have this:-

but the best hot product is Mr Naga! http://www.chilliworld.com/SP6.asp?p_id=173 it can be bought in some asain super markets though!

plus they should go bright red and when the plants start to die but there are still loads of peppers on them....cut off at stem....hang upside down in the house and they dry out....

they stay really hot,in fact the heat intensifies,...i've still using dried ones from 2 years ago

I have been getting these for ages now, they are fine if you are cooking with them to add flavour but they are not as nice as the Old El Paso ones if you want to eat them cold they are a bit hard. Saying that though you do get about 3 times more

Heat and rep.

If anyone has small Turkish shops near them, I pick up a jar twice the size for £1.29

Thanks for the tip about drying.

This site is good for those wishing to plant some

This site tells you everything. i wouldnt use seeds from pickled chillis as better to use fresh ones (about 70p for 3 green chillis in a supermarket and then you'll have tons of seeds). just buy them in January.

Good luck!

but aren;t those usually the ones you get with a kebab? Very large and mild and pretty tasteless.

I know the ones you are talking about, but no it's not them. I remember when the wife wanted to make pizza at home, and as I was looking for jalapenos in Sainsburies and having no joy, I stopped at my local shop and got a massive jar of jalapenos for £1.29.

I think this deal is hot anyway. I posted just so you can check you local Turkish shop if you one
nearby. I live in North london so there are a lot of ethnic shops around, however if I was living in Cornwall I may not have this option.

BTW I like those ones you get with Kebabs too. P

Also one in Airdrie, located opp Albion Rovers on the main Street, where Lidl used to be previously.

How long do you have to eat them once you've opened the jar? I love them but I'm quite bad for leaving things half empty.

It says on the label, once opened consume within 14 days. Should be plenty of time ! ;-)

love jalapenos but knowing asda these will be rubbish

mumbojumbo
These have got a bit more kick in them than the El Paso or Discovery ones. Nice crunchy, hot 'n' sour combo. They have them in Tesco's too.

They sure do. I've been getting these ones for a while now and I love them! Just about the right amount of kick, great taste and texture. I've grown chillis in the past but I love the pickled jalapenos taste! I've looked for these in Asda in the past but they seem to have only just started stocking them. At £1 these are a bargain- jars are much bigger than the Discovery or Old El Paso ones, and are a fair bit cheaper than in Tesco.

As for how long they last, the jar says 14 days but I use mine over weeks/months and don't have any problems. They're pickled so last for ages!
