With a 5-20°C temperature range, it can be set to store white wine, rosé and red wine at the optimum temperature: generally 7 to 10°C for white wine, 10 to 18°C for red wine, 6 to 11°C for champagne, and 7 to 13°C for rosé.

So doesn't go lower than 5°C

- aing69

and at 5°C it will be running its little **** off!

Its a wine cooler so wont be great for ice cold beer or pop, in fact it wont even be cold enough to keep milk fresh.

Is it with compressor or peltier system? Peltier ones are toys sold by electronic shops like Maplins

Looks like compressor.

It looks like one of the Husky beer fridges only with wire shelves.

and they're the same that they don't go cold enough for ice chilled beer or pop, maximum coldness is 5 degree's, as a general rule of thumb (and to compare to a normal refrigerator) milk should be stored bellow 5 degrees.

The only way to get a cold, drink out of these chiller machines is to put it in ice cold first lol
They are useless.

To be fair this is described on the Curry's website as a wine chiller, its the OP who has changed this to fridge.

At 5°C it will keep milk fresh. A fridge should be at 5°C anyway to prevent nutrient loss in fresh food.

any dairy website will tell you to store milk below 40°F which is less than the range on this, rendering it a bad purchase sorry

I did a lot of research last year on these mini fridges my eldest boy got one for his room, simply do not buy one unless its a HUSKY or another well known brand, but HUSKY are the cheapest are A++ energy rating and do actual store things cold.

Like anything that's the range specified by the manufacturer, 5c is the coldest with the unit running at its maximum, not sure how this would work long term and as already stated a normal fridge for beer/pop/milk etc. would be a few degrees colder than this anyway

It's a wine chiller, not a fridge. Heading needs changing.

Range is 5-20C...honestly what's the point?

Just buy a cooler chest and fill it with ice.

I was always told a fridge should be below 5, but as pointed out 5 is the absolute coldest this will go. Wonder how much that depends on the ambient temperature?

The model in your link will be crap because it is a Peltier thermo electric cooler, basically the same as an electric coolbox.

I ended up getting one of these. More compact and also a wine cooler not fridge, but with A+ economy.
Great little unit. Good looks, and not that loud.
Sold as a Grade A - but in reality ours looked unused/new.

Peltier's are just fine for a wine cooler, but obviously not capable enough for a true fridge. Mine sits all day at 8deg which is all you need for white wine or fizz.

why would it be crap, as long as it works within the manufacturers spec as a 'Cooler' and between its advertised 5 to 18 degrees then its as described, with your description of crap or not.

Have you ever used a Peltier cooler in a very warm or hot ambient temperature room ? I have and once the outside temperature goes over 23 degrees you'll realise they are crap at keeping things cool.
Anything that provides proper reliable cooling requires some form of gas or Ammonia circulating in the system and not just a small fan blowing on a heat exchanger which is how a Peltier cooler works.
The cooler in this deal will be far superior to any Peltier cooler because it has a compressor circulating the gas.
