the graphics card is comparable to the 8600gs, but because its 2 cards it will take up more power. I still think quite hot for the price.
#2
IMO hot but some seems to think differently, or even did not read it

How to get it for 499, the price on the web is 550
#3
Yeah how do you get it for £499 says £549? :?

DO NOT buy a Fujitsu SIemens... i work for Siemens and there laptops are well renound internally for being less reliable than the Xbox 360

Makes Acer look truly awesome

There are some on there for £499 ( click on the "Laptops Up to £600" link) but with lower specs.

I've given up on the PA5335 after Comet and Argos both offering deals but not actually having any stock.

I have worked for a number of I.T retailers and this is the brand we get teh most faulty returns on

Really? I've had one since September thats worked flawlessly. The acer I had before then had started to break down by this point and finally completely broke just after the warranty expired.

In your experience, do they break down over time or just suddenly stop working? And how accommodating are your support people if it breaks down out of warranty? Acer just flat out refused to help, same with Comet (I only discovered afterwards about the "has to last a reasonable amount of time" law).

lot of laptop for the money... good value
but not good if u take reliability into account.
i would rather a toshiba or dell and forsake the bluray which is bumping the price
#10
The RM-72 version is the one at £499.

Also note to post 2 but I believe the graphics will be ATI 3200 onboard and a ATI 3470.

Looks like a good laptop,
i had a Fujitsu seimens Amilo D which i bought for the high spec and it lasted for about 4 years which is good fro a laptop. Since then i bought a dell (again based on spec) and am dissapointed by it.
I'd back Fujitsu Siemens.

to cut the bs

According to Which, Fujistu-Siemens is ahead of all laptop manufacturers but Toshiba and Sony, in terms of reliability.Even Apple is ranked lower.

I bought one of these for £400 in Jan (Comet)and there are 2 niggly things about it. One is the fact that you have to press fn and f2 to turn on the wireless network every time you want to go online after bootup. I do not know of ANY other manufacturer of laptops that uses this idea. It bugs the life out of me ....Also with the x2 video it is impossible to install XP on it as there are no compatible ATI XP video drivers.......unless someone knows better, so I can only use Vista Premium which is included and which I hate. Other than that it is actually a fairly fast pc and I recently discovered it is actually quicker to convert movies etc than my 4600 dual core desktop, using XP. The battery is also similar to a good few others in that if you get 90 mins out of it think yourself lucky, so I only use the mains nowadays and the battery has been in a draw for 3 months . Wait a minute - thats 3 things .......!

Really? If so, do not bite the hand that feeds you, especially in current economic climate. If people do not buy Fujitsu's products, you will get redundancy notice .
Anyway,a person with that attitude to work like you ,is not going to account for any loss to the company so the sooner they get rid of you, the better ... it will cost less

If you do not like the company you work for, maybe just change the job instead of spreading the crap information

Sorry, if someone does not like me being honest :)

i've had a fujitsu / siemens since Jan 2005 and still on it now, its been very reliable with only a minor hicup in the first 3 months where the back light failed. beyond that its served its purpose above and beyond what I expected it to.

Spelling isn't your strong point is it?

FSC no longer exist as a company, it's now Fujitsu Technology Solutions.
I worked for FSC as an engineer and have had numerous laptops and desktops purchased through company purchase schemes and never had a problem.

Hmmm, I work for them and speaking personally (ie: not as anything official with the company) I don't think we're out of the ordinary in terms of satisfaction for the industry. Here's the last PC Pro awards for Notebooks. Got an overall 4* rating on there, same as the majority of manufacturers - Apple, Samsung and Asus were out in front, and Advent way behind. Not bad for a pretty technically minded readership survey. Latest thing I can find for industry wide failure rates is from 2006 - when Gartner had the figure at 15% for first year failure rates.

(oh, and for those confused by the Siemens/Fujitsu-Siemens thing: Fujitsu Siemens Computers was a joint venture between Fujitsu and Siemens, Fujitsu brought Siemens out as of 1st April so now the company is becoming Fujitsu Technology Solutions).

It's £499.99 but for some strange reason they linked to the wrong laptop. As someone else said, go to the "laptops up to £600" section and its in there.
