You expecting them to? They're fairly well established.

You expecting them to?

Yeah... they are the least competitive on price and don't even offer good customer service to back up the high prices.
#4
How do you get it at this price? £5.95+VAT in my cart?
#5
when did they start doing free delivery? the problem that stopped me buying from them was ad's with a cheap price, but then cheapest delivery price was £6 or £8 even on tiny stuff

This can only be counted as a stocking filler. From my experiences, Aria are good to buy from but the delivery prices are horrible if you're only after a few small things like this. If you are looking to fill your basket though, they also sell batteries (AA 4 pack I think) for something like 99p or 1p superspecial which you can't complain at, they'll probably last well in a remote or something.

pmsl - they ran out of stock, then reduced the price to 39 pence?!

It was that price in the first place, but it worked out £4.98 with the vat and p+p :w00t:

Ah, gotcha!
Couldn't see that, as I couldn't add one to basket - sold out before I saw the thread ;-)

These flash drives are notorious for their inferior quality and build. I bought an 8GB one off fleabay and although it worked for a while, I found that files were continually becoming corrupted. Finally, I found H2testW (http://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/2008/09/02/h2testw-14-gold-standard-in-detecting-usb-counterfeit-drives/), which told me that I had a 4GB flash drive, hacked to look like a 8GB.

So, it was merely the profiteering of the shady ebay seller who hacked it and lied about the capacity. Well, actually at my school a lot of students use these models with logos printed on them (such as Sky sports, Sega, etc...) which they obviously got from their parents who work for the companies. People's work have been going missing and everytime I see someone using one I tell them if they value their work they'd get another one. A lot of people don't value their work however, so that's not always necessary.

Anyway, I wouldn't touch these if I were you. If you absolutely must, run the Hstestw program on it and send it back if you are suspicious.

You're right to be wary of eBay, but I hardly think Aria are selling 'one deal' Chinese marketplace hacked knockoffs.

Not that you need to here, but you can easily test the disk by formatting it before use.

Aria are not the same as a Chinese eBay deal!

Indeed, you would probably get better service from a Chinese eBay seller.;-)

I believe that there is a way of hacking the controller chip in a flash drive to report a certain capacity, no matter how much its true value is. Reformatting won't 'un-hack' the controller chip and I myself reformatted my own many times. Often, Apple's Disk Utility said there was an error / the job could not be completed etc.

A blind person could buy a bucket advertised as 15 litres, but actually only holding 10 litres. He could fill it up with 15 litres of liquid, but only 10 of those litres will be left in the end.

I just think it's worth noting that fake flash drives must come from the same factory of this Arianet branded one and Aria, though more reputable than some is not 100% trustworthy when it come to the products they sell. Just be cautious.
