You can get a converter card from diveneo which lets you use microSD memory in the PSP (and other devices, I'd assume).

Seems like a great idea, and much cheaper in the long run. The 8gb microSD cards aren't really expensive anymore..

You have to be careful with these memory sticks, even the reputable suppliers get fooled by the counterfeits. I took one I'd ordered into a Sony retail shop (suspecting it to be a fake after reading the Fleabay guide) and the manager thought it was genuine until I pointed out the errors to look for. It was only when he compared the real against fake side by side that he could see it, even the hologram looks good.
The best indicator is the way the blister pack is sealed, if it has 'dot' seals instead of 'staple shaped' seals it's probably not genuine.
Mind you, some people don't mind having a fake if it works okay. Personally I'd rather have the real thing as I've found errors with some of the fake ones, i.e. refusing to format and not saving images.

For me more to buy microSD (as I have converter from SD micro to pro duo) is far more cost effective and versatile. I have stopped buying pro duo and buy microSD instead. I have micro SD to mini SD and from mini-SD to SD!

The fakes still work, its just 6 months later they start giving you access errors. Some wont even go beyond 1Gb as theyre flashed to say 4Gb but are actually just 1Gb sticks.

My one looked genuine, seemed fine for 6 months but then came all the errors! Sent to Sony and they said it was a fake even though it looked very convincing and passed the online tests http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/FAKE-Sony-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-MagicGate-Cards-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000001535763

Best to get from online retailers like Amazon or Play (not Marketplace sellers).

For those that prefer Sandisk - its the same price as the PNY http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-SDMSPD-4096-E10M-SANDISK-4096MB-MEMORYSTICKPRO/dp/B000F2WMT0/ref=pd_sbs_ce_img_3

Well the PNY is now £27.61. But Sandisk is 24.99 and from many reviews it seems that out of sony and sandisks cards, proved that sandisk are faster. So am heading towards the Sandisk.
