I was looking for the cheapest card I could find to play in my car stereo as I missed the CDiscount deal. Only class 4 but I don't nead anything quicker.

Kingston Technology's Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) memory cards are fully compliant with the new Secure Digital Association 2.00 specification. They are a new performance class of SD memory cards designed to meet the storage demands of high-quality digital still and video cameras and other high-resolution image recording devices.

Thought I ought to edit it since price went up 30p from £5.29 (good spot mikeyp)

Chhers mikeyp  I've received mine and can't get it to work in my car stereo even though it's supposed to support SDHC cards.:x Oh well back to the drawing board!

This is a very cheap deal but I have had a lot of compatibility issues with Kingston/Transcend SDHC cards. They don't get detected on some computers / need formatting again / they don't work out of the box!

Personally, from my own experience, I havn't had any grief with sandisk SD cards. They have worked straight from teh box - no issues. Maybe it will help somebody!

Suggest testing card with a reader on your PC.

I ordered 2 Transcend & 1 Kingston card - all fine for me, 2 for cameras one for TomTom. All work fine. I am using a SanDisk card reader to test them though. Could be a dodgy card reader rather than the card? :? SanDisk cards are good, but the class 6 ones are way more expensive than these!!!

I think it may be a compatibilty issue with my car radio. I had a spare standard SD card and copied the same music to both. The radio plays the SD card fine but not the SDHC one. The manual states they can't guarantee compatibility with all SHC cards and recommend Sandisk or Panasonic. My computer picked it up fine.

Might be because the Kingston is class 4. Your radio most prob only supports SDHC cards with higher read speeds. My TomTom is like this, which is why I bought a class 6 card.

The fact ur PC picks it up suggests the card is fine.

I never thought that being class 4 may be the problem, hence in my title saying I don't need anything faster. I've purchased a 2gb standard SD card today and that's working fine.

Decisions, decisions do I buy a class 6 and give it a whirl?

Thanks for the info

I will try and do some speed tests on the Kingston and Transcend cards (seing as I have both) over the weekend and post results.

Found this on youtube which shows a Pany class 2 card having faster write speeds than a Toshiba class 4 card! Can understand why your radio manufacturer recommends the Pany cards. Also shows the Transcend card doing quite well.

I took a risk on card for my TomTom as SDHC cards arent technically compatible according to TomTom website, but I had read some cards were reported to work. It just said: "We recommend that you buy a memory card with the highest available read speed." Logically I would say the Transcend card would work but dont quote me on that.

EDIT: run speed tests on both card and although the Transcend has much better write speeds as expected, the Kingston had better read speeds!

No worries - incidentally the Kingston was getting read speeds of about x125, the Transcend x100. So surprised it didnt work for you.

I also tested both cards on my tomtom with no probs.

Has anyone placed a large order for these?
I placed an order for 20 cards but have only received 11 micro sd cards and 20 SD adaper cards. 5 of the plastic cases didnt have the microsd cards in them, another 4 were only single adapter cards with no space for microsd cards. Im worried in case the person packing has made a mistake, its hard to tell what you are getting, my entire order so far has come in 7 envelopes!
I have asked a question on their website yesterday but im still awaiting a response.
