#7
I have one of these (got it for xmas) and 'tis good - reasonably fast compared to similar devices.
#8
Great Deal, the speed is reasonable
#9
I like this deal! Half the price of my last 4GB. Thanks for passing this info on.
#10
site appears to be broke, says "0 comments" on the post. Anyway, does anyone know if Play.com do a price protection like Amazon? I ordered one of these a few days ago for £13.99, wondered if they would refund me £3 :)
#11
anyone know if this is ready-boost compatible?
#12
These are identical to integral ones

so integral made i think
#13
Great deal. Unfortunately I bought one yesterday, shipped today, at £13.99 :x
#14
Very good deal. Got one. Anyone got quidco tracked? How long did it took?
#15
Can Someone Please Confirm If This Is Ready Boost Compatible?
#16
From a comment "The only bad thing I can say about this is I can't get is to attach to Vista as a ram enhancement drive as it's not fast enough(but haven't found any others that will anyway)" for someone who was asking.
#17
not had mine quidco tracked yet
#18
these are bytestor usbs rebranded to play.com so should be good.

Good spot and very handy to have!
#21
My Quidco has not tracked yet. When I first clicked to visit play site.. i saw some error... but then it disappeared.. but I believe there is some issue here... lemme know if someone gets tracked!

Cheers!
#22
You can use a registry hack to make Vista recognise any thumb drive as Readyboost comaptible. My not be quite as fast but for this price!!!
#23
I grabbed one, Thx, usually takes 2 days for quidco.
#24
Good price I bought 3 of these for Christmas for kids and OH. But they are £13.99 then at Play. Wish they would do a price promise thing like Amazon. ;)
#25
Just got an "out of stock" response when I tried to order one:cry:
#26
still in stock for me...?
#27
Ordered at 23:20 - in stock. Voted Hot, cheers.
#28

How big are these? I only ask as I've just fitted a new car stereo which can a take a usb drive with mp3 files on it. Unfortunately, in my car (Mondeo) the stereo is mounted at gear lever height so anything too long is likely to get knocked by my big clumsy hands whenever I go into 5th gear!

They look to be quite big, so I think I may have to look elsewhere.

Just use a short USB extension cable then it won't matter.

You can get them free with USB hubs at our local poundland. p.m. me if you don't have one nearby as I've got a spare one kicking around that I can send you.

For those that wanted a Ready Boost version Play have a Sandisk 4gb one at £14.99 here:

WOW !!!!? Could you send me a poundland as well !? :p:p:whistling:

I suppose the price will drop further as the market makes way for USB 3.0

Dubbed SuperSpeed USB, the third major incarnation of the serial bus standard is set to deliver data transfer speeds of around 4.7Gb/s - ten times today's 480Mb/s limit.
The new spec will be compatible with older USB 1.1 and 2.0 products, cables and connectors, and you can see from the diagram of the standard connector how that's achieved: the extra pins are placed behind the USB 1.1/2.0 ones. USB 3.0 connectors and receptacles will be deeper than the current ones.
An initial USB 3.0 spec is due to be reviewed later this month. The full USB 3.0 specification is expected to be completed by the end of June 2008.

Cheers thekanester, I had thought about that, but thought a nice short stick would be neater. I've got a short usb cable knocking around so if I do opt for that route then I'll be ok, but thanks for the kind offer of sending me one - assuming is was that, and not actually a Poundland. I may have a Mondeo Estate, but it won't fit a whole shop in the boot!

Would this work ok with Vista?
#38
Doh, paid 13.99 for this yesterday at Play.com and they go and drop the price the same day. gonna ask for the diff to be refunded. Voted hot though.

Wonderben : yes, works fine with Vista. A friend had an identical one and brought it over the other day.
Mike73 : the piccie on play is quite misleading as it looks bigger than it actually is. the lid for the connector is already shown clipped onto the other end. is smaller than it looks, maybe 2 inches, or 1 1/2 without the lid.

**i've also seen this drive branded as "integral" ** great price for a great gadget.
#39
oh yeah, if there are any xbox 360 users out there... you can drop this straight into the controller usb and watch AVI's directly from the stick with no lag. (just change the 'video source' to portable device)

Heroes S2 is quality :)
