is this semi-synthetic or mineral?
#8
its mineral, wouldnt put it anywhere near mine, and by carplan doesnt help, i sell carplan stuff in shop and oh is it poor quality, dont think they have a quality control personally. i call it numpty stuff as only the numpties buy carplan, i see it day in day out, then they complain, buy cheap get cheap results, simple as

At 6 quid a can for 4 lites, it might be alright for coating yer screwdrivers with a light film of oil - if you intended to store them and didn't want the blades to rust.

There again maybe I'm being too harsh with this carplan stuff - if someone had the dilema to consider putting this in or not putting any oil at all in the old smoker of an engine, then it's probably a bargain for some. Not voting as I haven't got an old banger.

Triple R is a decent brand and will be a minimum of semi-synthetic. This is an end of line bulk buy as Carlube have gone over to different packaging. If you look on their website all of their packs are 5 litres now and colour coded.

Makro have this product at £17.99

I can't find the exact spec of the oil as they don't have a high mileage oil in the Triple R range now.

Me thinks this is full fat mineral oil, especially at the price here is the new packaging:

For £6 its good if your engine eats oil or drops oil at an alarming rate, but otherwise i would go for better stuff .

Tesco are doing 5w 30 Magnatec for £15.60 roughly for 4ltr which aint too bad, and suites nost cars from the past decade.

Mmm, unless my eyesight is failing me (again!) I'm sure the bottle says 'for petrol and diesel engines'. I would expect petrol and diesel engines to require different formulation oils?
#13
This is about the same price as some petrol !!!

Great find.
#14
Petrol and diesels happily use same oil - think how many divvies would put in wrong oil type for engine .

Asda do Castrol Edge in those grades for £30 for 4 litres..it's recommended for modern long drain (up to 20k miles) oil change intervals and is a steal at this price.

a steal would be the same price as the Tripple R stuff. £30 is normal

Great as a flushing oil before putting the good stuff in.
