Hi
Thanks for posting. But could you be careful not to create duplicate merchants. Tesco are a well known company and have been on out database for many years. Creating duplicate merchants causes us a lot of propoblems.
Emmajk42 / Juliet_Bravo wrote a couple of very comprehensive and excellent guides for newcomers to HUKD here: - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/145906/newcomers-advice-on-hotukdeals-gene/

They are well worth taking a look at.
Kind regards Andy

Boody hell, paid £14.99 for 1 LITRE of this stuff the other dayfrom a Sainsburys garage.Low Oil warning light pinged on and I dont like driving around with low oil ,was on a journey and this was the only stuff on the shelf to suit my engine. Then car was serviced 4 days later.
Will look out for this one,or a similar deal, put it in my garage and remember to check my oil more than once in a blue moon.
#12
Can't find any motor oil on line, this sounds too good to be true, confirmation would be nice.. :)

Indeed!

I was all set to rush out and get some of this as my oil light came on this week and I finished up the last drop of Castrol Longlife 2 I had in the boot, but I just had a quick Google and this stuff isn't good enough for VW PD engines - apparently I need to get some "507" spec oil instead - BOO!

:-(

EDIT: Oops! Sorry VW pedants - I meant "507.00"!

really shouldnt be waiting for oil light to come on!!
Check oil regularly, waiting for the light will end in tears and you are affecting the life of the engine!!
#21
The photo shows "Castrol GTX" and not "Castrol Magnatec". Please change the title of this deal as it is misleading.

Hot deal otherwise though.

True, but if you look at the yellow label beneath it does say "Castrol Magnatec" - I think!

Dont Know What All The Fuss Is About As Looks Bogus Deal As Date On Sticker Shows It Ran Until Feb 2010 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#24
It is not a bogus deal, it is for the magnatec in silver/grey bottle not the GTX. Deal started yesterday as I was going to put it on here but forgot. Most stores still have it at full price but will go through at £5.74. It is the last of the stock from when it was half price.
There is none left in warrington or prescot well not since yesterday.
#25
wow, what a cracking buy. worth every penny

Try putting on your bi-focals that date is the date it was previously sold at a higher price :whistling:

"higher price charged, where stocked between"

An apology is due

Perhaps, but I've had my Passat Estate four years/100k miles and the 4 litre bottle of Longlife 2 that I've just finished is all the oil it's used (apart from the oil changes it's had when it's been serviced), which I don't think is bad at all. Plus it still returns 650 miles on one tankfull!

In fact I've just chosen the new Highline BlueMotion version as my next car - looking forward to the smell of leather! Mmmmmmmm!

Good news is YES it is instore at that price :w00t: Bad news is they have sold out at my store :x
The oil was on an end display & did have the reduced yellow sticker on. I went to customer service & they checked incase there was any stock in the back but no joy!!!
So hopefully some of you will find it in your store.

Some cars have an Oil level light which simply means that the oil has dropped below a preset level. Whereas other cars don't electronically check the oil and only have a low oil pressure (eg no oil!).

I think you're refering to the latter case "end in tears", whereas it could just need a simple top up and still have say 50% oil left in the sump.

Just picked the last two in MK Kingston.
Shelf sticker had full price. Scanned at £5.74.
Cheers Op ;-)

No, Diesel oils have significantly stronger and more detergents, some experienced mechanics will use a "good" diesel oil in a petrol car for a few hundred miles to clean out stuck or clogged rails/alleys and hydraulic tappets etc. which is much better than the flush crap people by in Halfrauds

About all this is good for.

Castrol are deleting this line to bring out a 10w40 petrol/diesel as the oil is exactly the same so if you have a petrol car and 10w40 is your grade of oil you should be using then you CAN use this! its the same oil but with more detergents to counter act the diesel fuel.

Amazing Deal we have reduced this oil at my work but only by a fiver!

Is that all?
Have you thought about getting it tuned?
My Peugeot 406 estate does over 750 per tankfull.

Mind you, that info is useless as you don't know the capacity of my tank ;-)
