I know, but all hotels are a rip off these days for breakfast. I stayed in a £29 room at a Premier Inn the other week and paid something like £20 for two breakfasts on top. Scandalous.

To be fair, it was a rather good spread they had on.

Booked. Thank you!

When I put in dates, they state £119 or £145 for the better room. Is this what you got?
#7
No. I put the promotional code in and it gave higher prices but the special offer of £89 was there as an option. Think the travel dates are between now and 31st May, so not sure when you were trying to book?

Should have worked then. Have you tried calling?

I can only see £89 at weekends, £104 otherwise.

How many people did you put in? If you include children it forces you to a studio room hence the higher rate.
#13
Okay, found some other dates for £89 but none that are useful for me. Have booked for £104 as it's a great location for me!

That's not terrible really though is it? £10 each for what you agree was a good meal.

This place isn't that great.
This deal is not special for what is essentially Travel Lodge quality, at London throughput.
You get served by a mixed bag of youngish types who last week were working at McDonalds.
(I'm not being funny, but when our room wasn't ready the girl told my Mrs that "patience is a virtue", get the picture? I decided to pretend not to hear her rather than tear her a new one, as we were with friends and it was someones birthday treat. But I did want to slap her face).
Our room wasn't ready, and not very clean when we got there.
You have to queue a fair bit to get seated at breakfast. (you have to stand in a queue outside the dining ared)This is a large hotel with many guests, so its a bit of a hectic place, certainly don't stay if you want a peaceful time. There are better 4 star deals for more tradtional hotels in the theatre district which would have much better service and be quieter.
(Specially for the weekend, when rates are low)
Having said all that, it isn't terrible. For 90 quid, its ideally located, so if you are planning something along the Southbank then its an ok place. Or seeing Westminster or Buckingham palace.
I didn't like it and wouldn't go back, but you would probably stay there and be fine, I'm just a bit fussy and would prefer someone "nicer". Its a bit of a bazaar. Oh and don't be fooled by the pictures. The rooms are shoeboxes, but ok to sleep in, and its not that new any more, and they were still working on the part over the roundabout when I went last year, so it would be even busier today I guess. Its interior is like one of those newly decked out contemporary McDonalds, all green and white plastic.
In summary, its really a slightly grubby, busy 3.5* hotel. Its ok, but don't expect plaza/plush/peaceful or luxury.

If they are saying it 's a new build. opened with a soft launch last month, how could you have stayed last year? Would the hotel that you stayed at have Tripadvisor reviews? in which case could you direct where for a second opinion, because Tripadvisor seems to be saying no reviews yet?

smells of troll.
#19
My understanding is that this Hotel actually opens within the next 2 weeks. This has certainly not been opened for a year, in it's current form, hence Pool, Spa etc.. not opened until late spring.

I have a friend attending a work ball in the next couple of weeks on the basis that the building has had a full re-fit and is new to Park Plaza.

Yeah I like to know about that aswell coz I also checked trip advisor. Maybe they mean one of the other hotels in the same chain?

I stayed in Barony Castle a little while back which was one of the devere hotels.

They had the standard fry up for breakfast but being Scotland they also had a vat of porridge and sat next to it a bottle of whisky so you could pep it up.

Who said the Scots were an uncivilised bunch?
#23
Me thinks Kerridge needs an A-Z !

I think Hot and if bad reports come in cancel before 2 p.m. on the day !

I'm combining free Ideal Home Exhibition tickets at Earls Court with this cheap hotel deal (including Breakfast and Wine) in a family room for £119.

Ditto, though I am hoping it is good, as it will add an unexpected and pleasant twist to my anniversary plans for the lady :D
#25
Yeah I was just suspicious of the review, I also think it's worth making a booking. If you go to the park plaza main site, it actually tells you the size of the rooms, and they are 25 sqm for superior and 34sqm for the studios, so they don't sound very "shoe-box" like at all...

:-D I bet you a bottle of buckie will probably taset better than the free bottle of red.

You could always call them and ask if they could get a bottle in the chiller for you going. Even tell them what number of bottle you want.;-)

I wasnt meaning it as being terrible really, more making the point that the breakfast was nearly the same price as the room cost me. As stated though, I was really surprised at the breakfast and was well worth the money.

If its anything like the park plaza down the road on Albert Embankment it will be a cracking deal! For £89 quid in Central London for a Park Plaza is HOT!!

I booked for may and called to ask about the upgrade. they are working on it but she said she thinks the upgrades ran out at about 12.30. I booked at 3pm so it don't look promising here.
#37
on booking it says
"Additional taxes and surcharges may apply.
Total estimated cost is only available in the currency applicable to the hotel. "

so is the £89 per night the final price or will it increase. never done this befor so any help would be nice thanks :)

Trying to book 24th April but it wont accept the code. I reckon they are holding out for people looking for accommodation for the London Marathon (like me)

I'm not surprised you're shocked at hotel costs...you get a Premier Inn room for £29, pay under £8 each for a " eat as much as you want breakfast ", which you admit was good.. and still think it's scandalous....

FFS...you got a night's sleep and 2 good breakfasts for virtually the same as this place charges for breakfast alone, ...get real....:whistling:
