The company is having financial difficulties at the moment do don't expect any support or future android updates for a now 'older' model. It's still a good spec for the money but this needs to be balanced against the looming lack of android updates.

Do these cheap Chinese phones pass UK/European safety standards?
Just wondering if the battery supplied is safe for charging.

After what happened with Samsung, I don't think the standards mean much :p

True but with Samsung you do get a refund.

Well I can only assume if your brand new Letv X800 sets on fire, AliExpress would help with a refund :D

I would never leave a phone charging overnight or even in another room. I charge them in my kitchen on a non flammable surface and only ever charge to 100% then switch off. It's common sense I think and if you've ever had a house fire like I have, you would probably do the same.

Yes I agree the Xiaomi redmi note3 is very good value. I bought a 2gb/16gb one from Gearbest for $138 a couple of days ago. Currently available at £112 - gold. Shipped to me already with a 7-10 day delivery. I have bought from Gearbest before and I have been very happy with their service. http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_308843.html
