Amazon in 'Lets copy play.com exactly' shocker.....

Cold...same as Play and they give Quidco
#3
Just aligned to the latest reductions at Play.com to £5.99. Given that Play.com has recently improved its delivery times, I would personally go with the Quidco rather than saving 1p.

Its going to be years before it will become mainstream imo.

Uh do people realise Play.com IS Amazon? Its their test bed for sales...

Nothing wrong with copying themselves.
#13
I prefer Amazon all the time with these price matching type deals purely because of the standard of packaging used , worth it anyday over Play .

Never heard that before ? You learn something every day on here , whether its 15 fish fingers for the price of 7.5 or the tradings of multi-conglomerate organisations ....
#15

Play are based in Jersey. Means that you do not get protected. And they are impossible to contact if something goes wrong.

Too true , had to deal with Play on a few occasions , lost dvd replacement was no problem electronics though was a nightmare to deal with .

Not in my experience. Play.com customer service was variable in the early days. Much better now. Have returned expensive items to them with little difficulty. Compare and contrast with what happened when I tried to return a similar bluetooth headset to Carphone Warehouse a bricks n mortar store. CW is the pits - I'd choose Amazon or Play over any bricks and mortar place now.

Cheers,

I ordered a phone. I never got it. I waited ages as instructed. Called three times asking for refund (had to get number from saynoto0870 as the number on their website was not working) - each time they sent me a form for a replacement.

Eventually just very cross and got the refund. But it will a rubbish experience

if quidco was 0.001% it would still be better than nectar points

WTF are you on about? They are competitors. Amazon is a huge multi-national company with worldwide operation with a massive catalogue of products. Play.com as far as I'm aware is only UK (and USA for a very small number of products). They are a much smaller operation with a much smaller catalogue of products, and far worse service.

True, amazon doesn't have anything to do with play.com - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play.com

If anything is damaged on arrival, or fails to turn up, Play.com will replace it very quickly. I've only had to do this a couple of times out of several (hundred) orders.

Great same mediocre titles... wooo hoo :(

good post op i vote hot also i get one day delivery thanks

Do you mean Amazon Prime? I have not subscribed to that but otherwise I think Play's free delivery is much faster compared to Amazon's. Thats where I prefer Play over Amazon. Quidco for me is a joke when it comes to buying £5.98 blu-rays.

Do you think that maybe they were just joking with that comment? No-one seems to have picked up on that ... :whistling:

WTF? Sounds like you haven't dealt with play for some time or had a bad experience with them, which if it was due to a replacement being sent out then it could also be a problem with the post.
I have dealt with play.com since 1999 when it was originally called play247.com and ONLY sold Region 1 DVDs, back then I didn't even have the internet so had to do my orders over the phone.
In over 10 years I have only had a few problems with wrong orders being sent out, but a quick phone call always sorted the problem. I do not agree with the comment about being impossible to contact at all, actually pick up the phone pretty quick when you call them and are fair when it comes to reimbursing for postage returns.

but play will only be interested in any faults that develops within 28 days. After that, you are on your own with the manufacturer. Certainly wouldnt buy any electronics from them but dvds etc should be fine.

Why do people insist on posting such blatant misleading information?

THEIR PHONE NUMBER IS ON EVERY WEBPAGE OF THEIR SITE - 0845 800 1020!

For people who like their films indie, then I would highly recommend Rachel Getting Married. Excellent little drama.
