Surepass are a national driving school and are currently offering your first 5 lessons for just £25.00!!

Much better than the BSM/Skins 3 lessons for the price of 2 offer that is currently running.

Called to book mine yesterday, and recieved a call from the instructor introducing himself. Was all very friendly a smooth process.

Can we safely assume that your Instructor is a fully qualified DSA Instructor and not a Trainee Instructor?

You usually get what you pay for with this type of service.

Think about it, £5 an hour is only just above the minimum wage, that is not counting the cost of the car.

I would not be surprised if there is not a sting in the tale with this one..
#3
Anyone with experience of the company as I'm very keen on taking this offer?
#4
Hmmm...
Fantastic news, we have Instructors in your area, the lesson price is from £-1.5 per hour.
I'm tempted to try to take them up on that price... ;)

But once you have had your 5 lessons with them, are you likely to carry on to learn to drive with that instructor OR go elsewhere?

Chances are you'll carry on. Its just marketing.

And even if it isnt upto much, for £25 you cant complain :)

where are they based?

I found a deal very similar to this, rang up about it and the lady asked if i'd had any previous lessons which I have. She said this wasn't for me then because basically the first couple of lessons will just be lots of talking and going through. Probably not even in the drivers seat for the first few.

If you are a complete beginner this is probably fine for you, but a waste of money if you have had previous experience.

Dont get me wrong, this could be completely different to what I encountered but just warning you guys. Good luck OP!

says based in salford - do they offer lessons in the se?
#9
Just booked up! so fingers crossed!

Suppose for the price of one BSM lesson in my area I can't really expect too much

But how much is lesson number 6?

You will have wasted 5 hours if it " isn't up to much " and they may well have destroyed your confidence by then.

Trust me, if this company was any good, they wouldn't need to be selling their service for a fiver an hour.

I am a great believer in finding a bargain, but I wouldn't touch these people with a bargepole.

Great deal. Anyone know if there's any in Edinburgh?
#12
Well I rang up and they seemed nice enough, if you look on the website there is a page you can put you postcode in and it'll tell you whether they operate in you area. I did this and it said I can book lessons from £16! Then if I wanted to book online it said £17.50... then I rang up and enquired about the offer and she said it'd be £19.50! weird...

I asked whether the lessons were for pure beginners and she confused me a bit but I think she just said they were 5 normal lessons wherever you were with regards to previous experience. I'd ring up to check though guys.

I just put in my post code (west Edinburgh) and it said there are instructors in my area.
#14
Hot, hot, hot! Thanks very much - another birthday present for the wife :)

Very pleasant on the phone - were fully aware if there were female instructors available in my area.
#15
I see you all keep saying 5hrs but it dosen't mention hrs just lessons, i'll be very surprised if you get a little more than 30mins on these lessons, hence the cheap price that's if you are even driving which will be unlikey for the first few on this deal!

I'll stick with my £23 a go lessons, it's only money after all!! :-D
#16
i pay £17 a lesson and mines an amazing instructor
however she increasing soon let me know if anyone needs her in manchester!
#17
OK.......
Well I have just phoned them again to try and book the lessons, this time I have been informed that there is a technical problem on the website and the offer is only available in certain areas whereas before I was told there would be some instructors available to do these lessons in my postcode area.

I have changed my mind, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole either!
#18
Just rang up and was told this offer only applies to certain postal areas. I'm in Liverpool and was told the offer wasn't open to my area and the lessons would cost £19.50 or 10 hours for £180. Bit of a con I think as the offer page doesn't mention any restrictions regarding post code.
#19
Fantastic news, we have Instructors in your area, the lesson price is from £-1.5 per hour.

If you get that message when you type in your postcode under 'Lesson Prices' on their website, I think it means they don't have instructors in your area. That's the message I got for two postcodes and I called them up and they said they don't have any instructors so thats my guess.
#20
I just got off the phone to them. There are none within Edinburgh area. closest to edinburgh is 100 miles away. Apparently drivers being trained and will be in Edinburgh within a few months.

Fast pass courses are priced as follows:

30 hours £624

20 hours £449

10 £279

£19.50 an hour fo a single lesson.

Those prices include working to the theory also.

hi whoever pmd me i pmd you bak!
#22
Be carefull we used these and on my first lesson and the instructor was actually a horse dressed up in humans clothes ! it was only when we stopped for something to eat and he pulled out a bail of hay we noticed ! ... only joking sounds like a good deal to me !
#23
Point for new drivers, reference the image, we go round the traffic circles in the other direction. That is a US Roadsign.

:-D

Hi all

I rang my instructor and asked what we will be doing in the lessons, and yes you will be in the drivers seat in all lessons!
#25
Great price if you can get it in your area.

Voted Hot.

Hi, My hubby is a driving instructor and thinks this is probably a con - good luck to those who wish to try it but a lesson for £5 even if you are in the driving seat doesn't mean you'll drive anywhere. There are 3 controls briefs that are used in a very first lesson - usually around 45 mins of quick explaining - this could be dragged out quite easily with more detail in the explanations.
Loads of big companies use marketing gimmicks like this - foot in the door and most pupils will continue to use the same instructor well thats the idea anyway.
#27
My hubby is also a qualified instructor, presumably they've got some new instructors who don't have enough pupils so they are trying to get new leads.

I can't see established instructors wanting to do this, they'll be operating at a loss.

TBH, my hubby charges £195 for 10 hours of tuition with a "buy one get one free" for the first lesson...and there isn't much profit in that so at their price it can only be a loss leader to get you in.

I'd check that the instructors are fully qualified - if they've got a pink badge they are still on a trainee ticket - they might be good but they haven't passed their part 3 test.

Anyone who wants lessons in Bristol let me know ;-) :-D

I bit on the offer. If it's a con I'll dispute it with my credit card company.

Any intructors in west London.

Given that it only promises 5 lessons for £25 with no other detail as long as they give you 5 lessons they've done all they advertised.

It doesn't say that they are car based lessons or 1 to 1 lesson or how long they last.

If it's a car based, 1 to 1 with a decent instructor who turns out to be one you want to continue with it's a good deal.
#31
Cheers, just ordered.

How long did it take for them to contact you and arrange the first lesson?
#32
AGAIN people anyone in manchester wanting a driving lesson please
contact me
#33
Cannot see any terms and conditions on the web site so a lesson could mean anything...

I have a horrible feeling this one is going to end in tears, paying up front for a service that is not fully explained is asking for trouble in my book.

But eh, it ain't my money, so all of you people with more money than sense, carry on paying your money over.;-)

***Any idea why the traffic sign shown with this deal has the traffic moving the wrong way around a roundabout??? (anti-clockwise)

or is that not a roundabout but some large immoveable object like MY AR5E.
#35
Website is abit messed up. says there are instructers near me but the nearest I was told on the phone is 14 miles away.

They define what a lesson is on the home page, they even have a video of a lesson. So based on that, i dont think they could mis-sell 5 lessons as they have previously defined what a lesson is on their site.

Could be wrong.

But for £25, even if it does go sour i cant say im bothered
#37
They cant be that good, look at the picture on the deal, they are approaching a round-about in the wrong direction!
#38
any good ones in west london?
