Play normally do this in January, where if you sell something via Playtrade, they don't take no fees. So you get the full amount of what your item sells for.

May be some use to somebody.

Existing playtraders/ new playtraders qualify for this btw
-----------------
Thanks to herby247 for this info:
FULL T&C's here....
1. Your first 5 sales between 1st January 2010 and 31st January 2010 will have their seller fees refunded.
2. If you already have items for sale through PlayTrade, you don't need to re-list them. Both new and existing listings are covered by the promotion.
3. To qualify for the refund of fees, any sale should be dispatched to the customer within 2 days.
4. The commission fee and the 50p closing fee will be refunded once you confirm dispatch. The refund may take up to 14 days to appear in your PlayFunds account.
5. You will be credited with 100% of the PlayTrade sale value in your PlayFunds account.
6. If you wish to withdraw your funds instead of spending them on site, this will be subject to a 5% transfer fee.
7. Our normal fees will apply for all other sales and from your 6th sale onwards. Please see our fees page for more details.
8. The offer excludes audio/talking books and tickets.
-----------------

For the record here are thier normal fees (taken from site, more info located in thier terms and conditions):

Our fees are an incredibly low 10% commission plus 50p per completed sale. If you plan to sell a lot of items we recommend you apply to become a ProTrader. A ProTrader does not incur the 50p closing fee and can list as many items as they want. A ProTrader account costs £19.99 per month.

If you decide to transfer your cash to your bank account there is a 5% transfer fee on the balance you choose to transfer. However if you spend the money at Play.com there is no charge, saving you the 5% transfer fee altogether!

Sounds like a plan fed up with eBay . After 9 years on eBay you realise how bureacratic it has become, plus they aid buyer fraud . Never post anything without tracking as buyer can claim non receipt for instant refund
#3
Thanks did this last year, I think it was ten trades, five will do for free:thumbsup:
#4
Play only take 10% + 50p normally and all funds go to your playfunds account.
I you want to transfer to your bank though, they take an extra 5%

I send all mine 1st class recorded, only costs £1.75 but it's worth it in the long run as Iv'e had people try to scam me but I won.

For eg, someone e-mailed me saying they did not receive their game, so I played along saying oh well I did post it when I said and it should be there by now
(I already knew it had been delivered because i looked up the tracking and the person who was emailing me had signed fot it himself lol)

Anyway, he kept saying he hadn't got it so I said: well according to the royal mail it has been delivered and signed for.

So he emailed back and said: Oh and I suppose you can tell me who signed for it?

My reply: *His name*

His reply: Oh, Ok, never mind...

Five's great, Don't think I have five items I could sell anyway in January. Maybe three PS3 games if I complete them soon:thumbsup:

Thanks, I forgot they done this.

~Playtrades pretty good, fees are high but you know exactly what you are getting.
I've sold about 600 items on play in last 2 years. but feedback is next too nothing. its also annoying when you get neutral/negative feedback sayinh "item was not new"... I know...thats why i listed it as very good condition...idiots lol

No point with recorded delivery unless its over £25/30

Just get proof of postage and then claim from royal mail. it takes about a month.

the other good thing is if someone regularly claims items haven't turned up, play ban them after 3 or 5 claims
#9
I have used Playtrade for about a year now, much easier to list than ebay. I never bother with recorded just 2nd class posted next day with proof of posting. I never had anybody claim they did not get their stuff (about 60 packages sent). It is annoying that most people don't leave feedback as I keep my proof of posting until someone leaves feedback.

These 5 free trades are very good especially if you end up selling those high value items :)

Iv'e had that too, 100% feedback then I get 1 neutral for that reason knocking my feedback....:x
#11
I've been using Playtrade for a year or so now.Dropped ebay in favour of Playtrade. Its one of the best places to sell your unwanted items. The feedback system sucks though as you can get neg for the most minor of reasons (didn't like the game!) & you have no real re-address & unlike ebay positive feedback doesn't seem to raise your feedback %.So just bear in mind if u decide to use Playtrade i doubt if you'll retain your 100%
#12
Amazingly I've still got a 100% feedback after 3 years of sales.

Had one buyer who was an utter idiot, who left negative feedback for no reason whatsoever, so I refused him a return and refund unless he removed it.
#13
can you sell used stuff on play trade, or is it just new?

Yeah, I know the feeling - I have about eighty bits of feedback out of over five hundred items, which is annoying when I get a neutral!

I always do Recorded with most things, especially eBay, and most of the time do so on Play as I can prove it got there and more care is taken with them. Nice about what Play do though, never knew that.

Best thing is the price you get from DVDs though, eBay you get sod all, but because there's essentially a catalogue on Play, lots more people are browsing and see your listings due to the layout.
#15
yup good deal. And when selling try to put your item's condition has accurate as possible and provide a detailed description. I've got 100% feedback still from 20 items (sold alot more but most ppl dont leave feedback). Only had a problem with 1 customer who didnt* receive their item but sorted out in the end.

Like others said, no point in recorded unless higher value, otherwise your just wasting profit. Get a proof of posting though.

+1 Does this mean we still have to pay the 5% transfer charge?

Great that they are doing the free trades again, I have a few dvds and games to get rid of.

Remember you can set up a second account if you have another bank account to use, I have one set up in my girlfriends name so I can extra free trades! Set mine up last year when they were offering 10 free trades.

Yeah same for me on Amazon. Ive had 100% feedback until recently some cretin left me a neutral and making a big deal out of a game i sold her because it had no instructions and wasnt in "as new" condition despite the fact it was actually listed as "good' and the description stated "NO INSTRUCTIONS." :x You think you have got all the angles covered but you cant factor in for blind stupidity.

Thanks Man. So they take the 5% off if you want to transfer the funds to the bank which is fine by me. million times better than ebay... Listed a 250GB PS3, a 20GB 360 and PS3 Remote... fingers crossed they sell :)

Sounds like you were VERY lucky - distance selling regs and all that apply, you cannot refuse someone a return if they contact you within 7 days, or if the item has a fault or they "feel" it is not as described!!

Problem with play feedback is a) no one leaves it, b) people dont read sellers comments, or even what they are buying sometimes - (someone purchases an xbox game meaning to buy a ps3 one!) and Ive even had feedback given on the same day i dispatched something, left as if it were an email asking questions!!! Thats NOT feedback!!

you mean the tracking they won't let you charge for anymore??

used to love ebay, but it has become a nightmare for sellers & lying 'buyers', one way feedback system. Play's fees are high, but your listing lasts until sold, and only costs you if ^ when it sells. one thing that bugs me though, is when it does sell, you can't see how much for until you confirm despatch, which leaves you unsure of how to post (recorded, special, or normal or not) as it can be months since listed!

9 years ago eh?, that'll be the days of envelopes full of us$'s sent trustingly thru the post, no paypal, open feedback, and bloomin good prices!!

He could have reported you for feedback extortion so you're lucky he didn't. How do I know this? Because I was in the same boat as you after 5 years of 100% feedback also. The only thing I could ask him to do was to revise his feedback and I gave him the item for free 'to keep him happy'. So although I was out of pocket, ebay left me at the mercy of the buyer.

This never used to happen. John Donahoe, ebay CEO, has a lot to account for since the no negative feedback policy for buyers was implemented. As with many companies, ebay started out humble and is now a corporate thug. Greed is definitely humanity's greatest sin.

1st five sales, so a little random, bit of a bummer if sale number 6 is your big item!!

Actually I think it's the first 5 you confirm dispatch for,

So if you sell 6 items, per say. Confirm dispatch for the highest 5 values first.

Not 100% sure so don't grill me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure I did this last year:thinking:

Which wouldn't be hard these days, play are as slow as a week in the jail!
I ve found items sell very quickly on play trade too, just shows you the amount of traffice they must get min by min, what i like about it is there is no listing fee, and when you get the email to say its sold during this offer you know you ve got the price you asked for!
