That concerns UMD's only, this concerns HD DVD's as well.
Concerning the other offer the other day, that was 4 for £20, now it is 5 for £20! :)

Cheers! If it was already posted I missed it! :)

Fair enough on the HD-DVD front, but that other thread says 5 UMDs for £20.

Please someone correct me if i'm wrong as I dont get all this negativity about HD formats, as people say it is an obsolete format... I assume that is becuase of Blu-ray, but if that is the case then what does that make normal DVD formats??

Lots of people post deals for cheap PAL DVDS and nobody slates them.

Blu-ray is expensive and from what I can see it makes good financial sense to buy a HD DVD player at a fair price and buy DVD's for it at bargain prices as the picture quality is still good on a HD TV.

Serioulsy if I am missing something someone please bring me up to speed with the real world, or is this just because people think Blu-ray is a must have technology or is there something actually wrong with HD? :?

i believe its called 'sour grapes'
#15
Because people are idiots, 24.99 for 2 HD-DVDs and the player AND the remote is a damn steal, and so is any film for £5 that you like.
#16
Leanne200 you are of course spot on. Over 100 HD-DVD's for me and a couple of nice bargain players. Has cost a lot less for the whole lot than a blu-ray player and 20 movies
#17
Ordered 5 HD-DVDs

Get them while you can because they are going out of stock quick...
#18
The HD-DVD trolling has subsided a lot.

You may notice it temporarily disappearing when MGS4 is released

Great deal, ordered a few HD DVDs, managed to grab some golden oldies that I wanted to buy on DVD but were cheaper this way :)

The difference is normal DVD's are not obselete, just old technology.
New films are coming out on normal DVD, no new films are coming out on HD DVD.

But its a great way to get into HD viewing

Cool, for £4 each it would be rude not to, ive ordered another 5 that i'll probably never ever get round to watching. Cheers !

At 4 squid a pop bargain!

Rip them to your HDD and throw them in the attic and forget about them. Hi Def movies on demand!!

HD-DVD is well and truly dead, worth taking advantage of how cheap the movies are compared to the SD offerings.

I've also got a Blu-ray player but the movies have spiked in price again now the format war is over. So I probably won't be buying too many more for the foreseable future.

SONY may have the Hi Def market but need to keep the prices high to try and claw back the staggering amount they have invested in Blu-ray!!! (Toshiba also got a hammering) .... Financially there's no clear cut winners out of either camp.

Anyway, Hi def on Optical media will have a short life. When cable and sattelite sort their lives out everyone will be downloading .......

Either way, £4 for a ripped hi def movie doesn't matter which format it originally came in .... HD-DVD or Blu-ray it will look exactly the same when watched via a media server/PC/settop box with HDD etc etc etc :-)

 Nice statement, that and when they finally get out Little Big Planet, or in 2 years time when Blu Ray is a dead media format for anything other than data and we see Blu Ray films at £5 prices.

super hot deal !!!!!. once the quidco tracks ,it makes them only £3.76 each .UNBELIEVABLE value . cheers OP .

GameStation are doing this deal in-store. £24.99 is a no-brainer for the HD DVD Add-On, couple of decent films and the Media Remote Control - the last item alone usually sells for £17+ :)

How you do that ??
#32
Try a search for DVDFabHDDecrypter4102.
Any way make sure you have enough hard disk space, typical HD film will be around 10GB's

By the way in Japan the HD-DVD + Blu-ray went obsolete over a year ago, replaced with super hi-vision around 6 times the 1080p format.:whistling:

Got to admit, I'm sorely tempted to snap up a cheap HD DVD player and join in. But I'm going for exercising self control and waiting for Blu Ray prices to fall instead - using the "but I don't have any spare connections on my TV" excuse to justify it.

If I see a cheap 360 HD DVD add-on, though, I'm doomed.

You could represent your country in the long-jump, if they placed some faulty conclusions at the end of the sand, you know. Nothing wrong with obsolete formats if you've got the players for them, and as I said, I might well end up picking up a player just to take advantage of these end-of-life sales, because I've got no personal investment in the fanboy disc format wars (and it worries me that people can get so personally involved in a battle between video disc formats). I've passed this deal on to friends who don't read the site and have the appropriate players already. I just find it mildly amusing to see HD-DVD and UMD bundled together in a sale.

No excuses plenty of spare connections!, I used up both my HDMI inputs on my tv with the V+ box and DIVX & Upscaling DVD Player and had to use a HDMI switchbox for my Toshiba HD-EP30

Go on treat yourself, you only live once
#36
I must have bought too many already as I can't think of 5

At this price maybe worth investing an extra £10 in a HD add on for the Xbox360 seen recently :-)
