5 Litres of Olive Oil Blend - £2.00 - Tesco Instore Bursledon

£2.00 @ Tesco
Found instore at Tesco Bursledon. There was a shelf full when I was there. 5 Litres of Olive Pomace Oil Blend reduced to £2. Decent enough reviews on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/KTC-Blend…

At this price it's cheaper than diesel! Apparently great for soap-making! Or you could cook with it :-)

***EDIT***

Not that I have any vested interests in defending the product/manufacturer but there are certainly a lot of oil experts on this site giving very sensationalist and scary views on this product.

The composition of this oil is freely offered and there is no subterfuge or sneakiness here.

Ingredients:
Olive Pomace Oil (52%), Rapeseed Oil (48%), Antifoaming Agent: E900 (<0.01%).

Olive Pomace Oil is the lowest grade of Olive Oil available, extracted using a solvent-based (hexane) method but still entirely safe for human consumption.
Rapeseed Oil is a standard choice for many UK households. Rapeseed oil is extracted using the same method as Olive Pomace Oil (as is vegetable oil and sunflower oil).

So, this is a blend of 2 types of cooking oil, and incredibly cheap for what it is.

Given that I have 10 litres of the stuff, if any nutritionists can offer any reason why I should not use this to cook for my children I would actually be interested to hear this :-)

Usually these unsafe pomace oil is blended with rapeseed oil on a ratio of 60:40. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND this even if any supermarket give this pomace or palm oil for FREE. These oils should be banned from human consumption

I'm not entirely sure what the fuss is about? Rapeseed oil is entirely safe for human consumption.

I presume that this oil is safe to use, otherwise Tesco wouldn't sell it?

At 40p per litre there is no other cooking oil as cheap as this, I'm pretty sure nobody expects the finest quality extra virgin olive oil at this price :)

I gallon of fuel for the car at £2, can't go wrong with that. A couple per tank fill and you are making big savings on your fuel bills for sure.

Aviod. It from the final pressing and as such is horrid to taste and downright nasty to your gut. see above comments.

Well said. Better use cheaper oils like rapeseed oil and rice bran oil than using this, olive branded oil. Cheaper oil means they won't go to extremes to get the oil out or adulterate with fake oil. This seems like snake oil to me.
