    IT'S A CON.

Just bought three copies. Opened up to the given page, 12, and there is a full page ad for the "spend £40 this week get £5 off next week" promotion. No voucher.

NO VOUCHER IN THE DAILY STAR.

dont be a gimp, more a RUBBISH misleading advert on the front of those … dont be a gimp, more a RUBBISH misleading advert on the front of those papers.

Only two gimps in this thread....yourself and the OP

Surely one would check a deal really exists before posting up here....that way it is actually useful to people rather than people waste their time picking up a paper they would not normally read. Secondly, the comment from the OP suggests he/she did see the deal

"You CAN use this £5 off £40 voucher WITH the £5 off £40 till-spit voucher!!"

Rubbish post full stop. It's all BS.

Waste of 30p and shoe leather!Have complained to the ASA and Tesco - this is very underhand by whoever the promoter is - taking advantage of people who recognise the recent spate of cut-out vouchers and thought this would be the same. Surely if it's an advert and not editorial or a promotion, it needs to say so, especially as it's a BIG ad in the middle at the top of the front page.

I'm fuming, its 50p in the North West, and I only purchased it for the voucher!

Ok so you take this paper voucher with you, spend £40 in store, present the voucher, Total cash you hand over will be £35. Great? Not so great.

Spending £35 cash does not qualify you for a free voucher for £5 off your next shop as you havent met the £40 minimum criteria. So those who do not hand over at least £40 cash will loose out on tesco own free voucher.

So just remember if you want to use this voucher and receive another free £5 your next shop you must spend at least £45 on groceries.

Wasn't the case when I used a £5 off paper voucher plus a clubcard coupon, I spent £40 in store, but the total cash I paid was £31, I didn't receive a £5 off your next shop voucher.

Not true, I split my shopping last week as was getting some stuff for my dad aswell. Total for first lot was £41, used my £5 till spill voucher so paid £36 and still got a £5 voucher for next week.
Second lot was just over £40, used other vouchers and got another till spill £5 off.
It is based on the total after multisaves but before any payment (including vouchers)

That's what the official rule is at Tesco...but 90+% of the time the SA does not know of this. (_;)

Coupons are just another form of payment, like cash, cards, etc. Using them to part pay for your shopping total doesn't affect how you qualify for petrol coupons/till spit coupons/clubcard points/multisaves/knife coupons/schools & clubs tokens/etc in any way at all.

Thank you this will come in very handy, do you know how long the voucher lasts for?

Confirmed what Nujol wrote no voucher in daily star anyone confirm if there is in the express?
  25. ukjoel's avatar
Confirmed a CON - I went to pick up 3 copies - on the front of express it says £5 off on £40 spend see page 6. On page 6 is an advert for £5 off a £40 spend. So the current promotion. There is no voucher and the only way to get this is to spend £40 (as you would have done anyway).

Dont forget to get them to subtotal at £40 otherwise you could spend £150 and still only get a single voucher at the till.
I am just glad I read it first - woman in shop said a lot of people had picked a copy up turned to page 6 and left empty handed.

    What a Rip Off...basically it's advertised as a voucher and it's an advert...waste of 30p...but thank's for trying OP...
  32. seb's avatar
    it's a bit misleading, isn't it?

last week they had a similar banner on the front page offering £5 off asda purchases.

i took the paper but while i was waiting at the checkout leafed through it to find the coupon and saw that it was actually a two-page advert for ASDA saying that if one bought £40 of goods one would get a £5 voucher for the next shop.

so i dumped the newspaper upon before i reached the till!

    I have to say I agree. OP said;

"Buy the Daily Star (30p) on Monday & there is a voucher for £5 off when you spend £40 at Tesco. Also in the Daily Express(50p)

You CAN use this £5 off £40 voucher WITH the £5 off £40 till-spit voucher!! "

Being misled by the newspapers and posting the 'deal' is one thing (and could be forgiven if it had been left at that), but to make grand assumptions like the OP did by stating that you could use the (non-existent) 'voucher' AND the current till spit voucher (as though they had in fact done so), when in fact nobody (including the OP) could possibly have made such a statement because the voucher didn't exist is another.

Misleading not just by the newspapers in my book.
