Awful supermarket filled with unbranded junk. Dirty floors and fixtures, rotting food commonplace as most fruit and veg isn't chilled , chav workforce that chat amongst themselves , always huge queues.

Nothing like my local Aldi or the two others I regularly visit.

Will stick with Asda thanks.

Oh the irony of quoting Asda as a better class of clientele and/or a superior place to shop.

Aldi have been doing this for a few years but it is a sign of their increased popularity that the threshold spend has increased from £5 off £30 to £5 off £45 (with £35 and £40 also used).

Expect it to be £5 off £50 before long (or even stopped).

Aldi (and Lidl) can only increase their market share whereas the big 4 can only see it diminish. Morrisons is the most badly affected because it has got its marketing mix totally wrong - spraying water mist on overpriced fruit and veg a case in point. It is now desperate to get back on track (hence the price cuts) but I think it needs to be doing more (a loyalty card rather than the complicated payday bonus tokens) to get people through the doors again.

Workforce in 2 local ALDI work so hard they don't get chance to talk to each other - my only complaint is that ALDI and LIDL after 10 years + of shopping there are now getting too busy - maybe i'm a discounter Snob and wish to keep them to myself.

There's a lot of supermarkets with vouchers in papers over the next few days or so, it seems. This is another great one, heat added! :)

Any idea when it expires?

I might buy a few papers so I can use them for a few weeks.

Love Aldi!

A lot of that unbranded junk is exactly the same as the 'branded junk' you get in other supermarkets, just in different packaging and cheaper. As for the huge queues thier checkouts are a lot quicker than most other supermarkets.

Agree, there's no chavs working at Asda, that's why I exclusively shop there...

In all seriousness though, Aldi's generally no dirtier than other supermarkets. Agreed, I don't appreciate the fact that they don't refrigerate enough stock, and that employees seem to be constantly stacking shelves and unloading boxes around the shop, but that's just their business model. Have a handful of workers in the shop at a time, to do the tills and the stacking.

The queues may be big, but they go double the speed of other supermarkets because you're meant to go pack it afterwards, to free up space. I also appreciate that they charge for plastic bags. The savings on basics are also pretty hefty too, their veg and fruit is pretty darn cheap.

Aldi near me is spotless. Some of the food is actually better than some branded products.

One thing aldi need to add is an express checkout or self service till. I am always having to let people in front of me because I have a trolley full and people join the queue with just 1 or 2 items.

lol I know what you mean, I've shopped at both for a long time and remember the store being almost empty on Christmas eve as I finished my food shop because everyone was in ASDA over the road. But last Sunday I had to go to ALDI and was there at opening time and there was a queue?!? I have never queued to get INTO aldi before haha

It annoys me, I too have shopped there for 10+ years, back when only poor people shopped there. Now I cannot get into my local ALDI because the car park is full of BMWs and they're so busy they don't much seem to care.

Thanks OP - My local Aldi is perfectly clean and yes there is little staff interaction, but they are all working hard. Still much better service than all of the other supermarkets here!

Those venison sausages are delicious. I grab a few packs and freeze them when I see them.

I struggled when I had to spend £35 in aldi to get the fiver off, I'll never manage to spend £45 the contents of the entire store probably wouldn't even come to £45 its that cheap

.... which isn't a negative thing btw

Yes 2 Mirrors for me as well (a shop this Thursday and one next Thursday).

The two Aldis I shop at can get a bit untidy but never dirty. And I don't mind it being untidy - that is what is part of the shopping experience for me........love a bit of rooting through the special buys that have been reduced !!

As for the fruit and veg not being in a fridge well that's the way nature intended :)

hahahaha your argument fell apart when you quoted ASDA which is the scruffiest jumble sale like pound shop supermarket in the country

Don't know if this will be of any interest to anybody but there is a FREE bacon roll from Subway on page 25 of The Mirror.

Valid until Saturday with no need to buy anything else to get it.

Not a bad little bonus if you are that way inclined.

Yeah the ASDA in Peterborough is exactly like you describe above! Aldi is much better, I would ditch ASDA if I were you!

I agree ... Luckily I have a LO in nappies, so just top up my weekly shop with these and don't buy them for the rest of the month!

It's not on there, or checkoutsmart today. I saw an offer the other day which was for 25p when you spend £5, but that only lasted 1 day and like I said it's not on either of those apps today :-(

Nothing like that at mine. You must live in a rough area.

I have stopped buying these since it went up to a £45 spend. When it was £40 I found myself buying stuff I didn't need to get to the total. I wonder if people will still vote this a hot deal when it eventually creeps upt to £5 off a £100 spend which will probably happen in the next two years by my calculations
