Then you are an idiot. This is free money, pure and simple.

Would you be able to use it in the printing/photocopying section?

How is £5 (£4) off at staples a HOT deal, mugs and lazy people are the customers that use Staples. I would have thought posters on here were better than that. The same mugs shop at places like Game the computer shop. Highly inflated prices.

I suppose if I was passing I could maybe get some staples or pens that I never had any intention of getting, obviously this deal is aimed at mugs that will then pick up the highly inflated (price) items.

because it isnt £5 OFF! there is no minimum spend, therefore you buy £5 quids worth of whatever you want, hand over the voucher and its FREE! Is FREE too expensive for you? Nobody ever said staples was competitive, nobody ever claimed they had bargains-its FREE money!

The applestore is overpriced too-If they were doing free ipods would you criticise it because they are expensive in the first place?

@ bargainhunter.

that's how all marketing works - the same with supermarkets and their bread or milk sold below cost price to get you in the door. Smart shoppers just pick up the loss-leaders and and walk out. by refusing to take them up on their something for nothing deal are you any smarter than people who buy their over-priced stuff?

You sir, win the prize for the most idiotic post of the year. Let me spell it out for you.

Person walks in to staples with this coupon,
Person picks up item costing £4.99.
Person goes to the checkout, and hands over item and voucher.
Person gets receipt and walks out door with item, costing £4.99 that they got for free.

HOW HARD IS THAT TO UNDERSTAND?!?!

Ooh, touchy aren't we? (_;)

Actually, it's only "free money" if it costs you less than £5 in time and money to get to Staples. It's simply a ruse to get you through the door so that you'll say "oh, I might as well have that too" and spend more than you intended. I reckon they have calculated that most Screws readers won't have the self-discipline nor the intelligence to realise it's costing them more than £5 to get there in the first place.

Where is the "hit head on wall" emoticon? or the "slap forehead" one.

What if you live near one, needed to get something that costs £4.99 AND were going in to get it next week? EVen if you dont read the NOTW (i dont) it would still be a good buy to get the voucher and save some cash. Burn the paper after you get the coupon even!
#25
Or, you could just buy the paper for the pictures! I'm sure some people do ...

#27

Mumsnet Economics. What a ****.

bargainhunter666: what a moron.

It is unlikely, however overpriced they may be, that you "serious, non-lazy shoppers" would find an online equivalent of a £5 purchase 80% cheaper.
You sir, are a right Toby!

cheers OP

Of course it is free money £4 worth - I will be using it to buy pens, pencils etc to put in the charity shoebox collections.

what an idiotic and insulting post. Its only a bargain if they have something useful at a competitive price and the £4 off might make a difference. If you have the voucher or are passing the shop then you can get some free paper or pens. How is free a rip off?

Sometimes Game have competitive prices and othertimes not. Free seems like a good deal to me. You could for instance get a couple of reams of copier paper for £1 or a usb stick.
